Hi everyone, this is my first time asking the forum for an authentication. I was looking at this listing for a Vintage Coach Willis and the seller had said the item is fake but I wasn’t too sure since the last 4 numbers of the creed match the usual Willis codes. Thank you!

The listing:

Seller: snails_mail on depop

Why do you think fakes can't have the same serial numbers as genuine Coaches? Do you think that fakes makers are too stupid to copy real serial numbers from real bags? Maybe some of them are but most of them aren't.

If you're going to be buying more Coaches you need to read the six Salearea Coach Guides posted here before going any further or you're going to be making some expensive mistakes:
https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/salearea-guides.983575/#post-32252957

And whoever told the seller that the bag was fake was wrong. It's genuine and was made in 1998.

  • If the bag in question is not on an auction site, please use the following:

Item Name (if you know it):
    Link (if available):
Then attach any photos (all authentication must include photos.)
    • Please be sure to include a clear readable photo of the creed stamp and serial number from inside the bag or accessory if there is one, and the bag's measurements when the bag is an older or vintage leather Coach.
    • Since mid-2014, Coach stopped putting serial numbers on creeds so in newer bags where the creeds don't have serial numbers, we also need to see pictures of the labels/tags from inside the bag. They are either both in the main open part sewn into the seam of the lining, or one might be buried deep inside the zipper pocket. One shows where made and the other has a serial number.

Hi

I believe I have a vintage Kent in Forest/British Green.
She measures: 10” (8”) x 6” x 3” excl. front pocket. Strap is 19-22” drop.
I believe her to be a 1993 version due to the creed reference or could she be earlier?
American made? New York perhaps?

Any advice welcomed and authenticity please.

Apologies for the photo image ordering, I have no idea why they have uploaded out of kilter like that.

Many thanks

Zoe

Hi Hyacinth, I’m sorry I didn’t mean to come across that way. I’m well aware sellers can make very identical fakes. I was only hesitant about the creed because of the “No” lettering but I did some more research and found a similar listing that matched the purse. Thank you for authenticating the purse and for posting the resource guides on authenticating Coach purses. I will be looking into those!

Just remember that every plant's stamps were different, and things like creed and serial number stampings changed often, especially between the late 1980s and early 2000s. The only stamps that can ever be compared one to another are stamps from the same plant, month and year and of the same style number. They always have to be checked against photos in our files of genuine and fake examples. Smaller plants like Hungary and Turkey didn't produce much compared to the larger ones so finding examples sometimes isn't easy, I only have two other readable stampings from that Turkey plant and year in my own files, and that's out of close to 70,000 photo files.

It's an authethentic Kent Bag, style 9916, probably made some time in 1993. Hard to say what exact color it is, Forest Green was available in the early part of that year and replaced by Bottle Green more toward Autumn. Catalog pictures often don't reproduce colors very well so I don't like trying to guess what it actually might be, but we can eliminate British Green. Coach AFAIK never used that name or British Racing Green either. The Made In line would have just said Made In the United States. Except for the original A plant in NYC, the location of the other 3 USA plants open at that time still isn't known for sure. One might have been in Miami and another in Puerto Rico.
