FYI: The bottom edge of the strap attachment on one side seems to be trimmed off and the stitching is a different color. It appears to have been resewn.

Just one example of many......but ALL OF YOU Authenticators are amazing, and soooo knowledgeable on this forum. You don’t just say “yea” or “nay” to the authentication request....you go above and beyond to offer all other kinds of tidbits of information. Really impressed, and just wanted to say thank you from someone that is relatively new to this particular forum.

You also didn't include the seller's ID: Kate - ladymiyao

I'd never trust Poshmark to authenticate items, especially a style as highly faked and well faked as Rogues and other 1941 collection bags, Disney items, NASA items and even vintage and classic styles. (I"ve gone into depth about my feelings toward PM and generally, I don't even comment on listings from that site so I'll stop here.)

But I'll try to help you.

First, the pictures shown in the listing aren't adequate for authentication purposes.

If you have the bag in your possession, please take pictures of the following:
  • both sides of the made in tag from inside the bag,
  • picture of a white label with 2 rows of letter/numbers. The white tag is hidden somewhere in the bag, maybe in a side seam or possibly deep inside a pocket that you may have to turn inside out to find and photograph.
  • photo of the price tag showing the style, UPC and color info. (It's not legible in the listing.)
If more pictures are needed, they'll be requested.
Finally got this bag - see attached photos as requested IMG_5031.JPG IMG_5032.JPG IMG_5033.JPG IMG_5034.JPG IMG_5035.JPG IMG_5031.JPG IMG_5032.JPG IMG_5033.JPG IMG_5034.JPG IMG_5035.JPG IMG_5037.JPG IMG_5038.JPG

Hi everyone!

I found a Coach Court #9870 on Depop that I really want to purchase, but I am not sure of authenticity. It doesn't come with strap or hangtag, and there are a couple of other red flags:

1. There are protrusions under the flap, on the other side of where the handle strap is sewn.
2. In the center of the top of the bag (under the flap) the leather overlaps. I've never seen this before, but it could just be when the material ran out when it was being made.
Thank you so much!

Update: I bought it but I would still appreciate any help with authenticating this! Thank you!!

It's an authentic Chrystie bag made in 1995. (Remember to include seller ID in future requests.)
FYI: The bottom edge of the strap attachment on one side seems to be trimmed off and the stitching is a different color. It appears to have been resewn.

Update - After some thought I asked the seller to confirm the trimmed area of the bag and they responded with an apology and will cancel the order and return it to the original owner. I did not ask the seller to cancel it as I was debating to keep it because I've been wanting a green bag. Sounding kind of desperate here lol. I was amazed by their response and happy that I didn't need to waste any more time pondering about this situation. Thank for Catbird9 for providing more than just a authenticity confirmation and helping buyers understand more about obtaining a vintage coach bag. You all are awesome!

It's fake. The creed has the wrong plant code for the country named on the creed stamp, the turnlock is wrong, and the word spacing on the creed is wrong. If you haven't already paid, DON'T.

Hi everyone
I found to great bags in a warehouse sale and I was wondering if they are authentic?!
Can you also tell me the Name and the year please?
Thank you so much and a wonderful Day to everybody

Please include measurements of both bags and a photo of the side panel of each so we can see how the straps attach.

Hi all~
Imagine my mortified surprise (shame, shock, disappointment) when I saw my ebay seller name connected to the aforementioned Canteen bag which has now been deemed as a fake by two authenticators. I purchased this bag online and it came with a genuine Entrupy certificate guaranteeing (insert eye roll here) its authenticity. I trusted that authentication, as well as the bag's overall appearance, but have recently come to understand that certificate can and may mean diddly friggin' squat.

If I had any doubts of that Canteen bag's authenticity I NEVER would have sold it. I will not and have not knowingly sold any fake or inauthentic items on ebay.

I wanted to come forward as I made an honest (gullible?? ugh), painful mistake and perhaps someone else can learn from this as well.

I have alread contacted my buyer to make them aware of what has transpired. I have offered them a full refund. I'd like to get the bag back so I can express my extreme displeasure to both the online seller and Entrupy about this, and hopefully (yep, I know) return the bag for a full refund.

So here are the photos of the red Canteen I took for my ebay listing:

I'm so sorry you were misled by Goodwill and Entrupy. It's not completely surprising since you're a fairly new member here and may not be as aware of the number of times Entrupy has been wrong. Generally, a COA (as some call them) can be trusted to be accurate if it's from a company known to have real human experts who do the authentications. Some companies use humans who may or may not be expert in any or all the brands they claim to do and in the case of Entrupy, they use AI and unless they update and correct their databases, they will continue to make the same mistakes repeatedly.

Whether Goodwill isn't aware of Entrupy lack of accuracy or if they don't care, I don't know. But IMO, both Goodwill and Entrupy need to step up their game.

I have a folder on my computer that I call "Entrupy mistakes" in which I save pictures of the bags saved from listings as well as a picture of the Entrupy certificate stating their authenticity.

I would love if you would repost the pictures of your red bag and the certificate from entrupy so those of us keeping track of their mistakes can save the images.

If you have a hard time getting your refund and if you used Paypal or a credit card, I recommend opening a dispute. Paypal allows 180 days so there's time. And if the c.c. dispute is necessary, even if time has passed, I believe you can open a dispute once you find out you were defrauded. (ANd you were defrauded whether it was intentional on Goodwill's and Entrupy's parts of not.)

THANK YOU!!

I've added the pictures to my ENTRUPY MISTAKES file in my computer and hope that some day, Goodwill will get enough returns of fakes that they'll stop using an AI service to "authenticate" their items and Entrupy will lose enough business that they'll update their databases to correct their mistakes.

Item: Navy City Bag 9790
Dominican Republic 2003?
Seller: Probably a local thrift shop

Comments: This bag is a total mystery to me! I think that it is a genuine navy City Bag 9790 that was made in the Dominican Republic in 2003, do you agree?

I was surprised to find this bag at the bottom of (one) of my rehab pile(s) and it appears that I half-finished the rehab a long time ago and then put it away and forgot about it. I have absolutely no memory of this bag. I cannot find it in my records or photos and there is no evidence that I ever had it authenticated on TPF, and that is not my usual practice.

The bag was very clean but the flap had gotten a little misshapen during storage so I gave it a quick dunk and stuffed it to dry. All I need to do now is condition the leather, polish the hardware, and address a few frayed threads.

It's a very easy rehab but it suddenly occurred to me that maybe I stopped midway because the bag is fake? It looks genuine to me but the creed patch is very faint and hard to read. The bag is still damp but I used eye shadow to try and get some creed pics. They are not very clear so if you need better photos I will try again later when the bag is completely dry.

Please take a look at these photos and let me know if you can give an opinion on authenticity or if more pictures are needed, thank you!
