I know Ben didn't mention any other acceptable sources of authentication but I submitted my photos to Mercari Authentication anyway. Last time I submitted a Helen's Legacy with a normal serial number with style number format and they failed miserably. I just got email back from them "Our authentication team was unable to verify your item's authenticity. Your listing has been removed from Mercari."

Translation: We don't know jack about vintage coach and therefore not going risk letting you try to sell it on our site. We only allow cheap fakes to be sold on our site that are under $300.. but here's a coupon for $30 for items priced over $300! :giggle:

Well, that just proves what many of us have known all along. The entire world has gone feck!ng nuts, and the inmates are running the asylum.

If they're buying bags for a photoshoot, why do they need documentation for the bags? It's a photo! Sheesh.

They might need it if they're planning to resell the bags at some point.
They don't need documentation though. To resell, they're just required to know that it's authentic.

Hyacinth you are awesome thanks! The serial numbers are different but I noticed that the creed in the purse I just purchased is not attached at the top and the bottom just the sides. In the pictures I looked at of other coach purses the creed has been fully attached. The creed itself doesn’t refer to where the purse was made or the materials. I have no idea how many creeds there are but I didn’t see any online that matched this one.

Below is the info:

Coach has used HUNDREDS of different creeds and creed wordings and ways of sewing them. YOU CAN'T compare one creed with a different creed. Like I said already, unless the 2 serial number are IDENTICAL, they can't be compared. Stop trying to do it.

Please wait for someone experienced with that style.

No they didn't authenticate this. Only when you try to list something over $300 it pops up "let get this authenticated" and you are able to submit photos. You can't request authentication for lower priced items because it's by invitation only. Basically it's not worth their time to look at cheap fakes under $300. I don't have a fake in possession currently but I wonder how they would do if this bag was submitted with price over $300.

And as for that, why do they need THAT particular bag? What difference does it make if it's a vintage Coach or a generic red bag from Target??? Who is going to know it's a Coach if they just want it for a photo shoot?

Where did Mister Authenticator say it was for a photo shoot?
He did add a comment about a photo shoot, probably after most of us lost interest in his extensive knowledge (or lack thereof):
benmack1212 @houseof999 If I were buying for me, I'd buy directly from a place that promises authentication, for the investment. But when you have to buy a lot of bags for a shoot and are on a budget, you look everywhere. Do any of your vintage bags come with docs? We've never used posh bags before.

LOL! And did anyone read the followups to see who is defending and affirming @Hyacinth's expertise?

BTW, although I haven't needed to use them for Coach, I've used Authenticate4U for Prada, Fendi, Hermes, Burberry, Gucci and other brand authentications. They use brand specialists and when I have an item verified there, I know it was done by someone who knows the brand.

And benmack1212 might want to do a bit of research on TRR. They've deemed a lot of fakes as authentic and authentic items as fake. Some some of those fakes have been sold to buyers who trusted them.

Ah, okay. Thanks for clarifying.

Dear Authenticators, would you please authenticate this bag.

Item: Coach Sutton Bag, I think
Listing number: No listing, I have the bag
Seller: N/A
Link: N/A
Comments: The dimensions are 11” x 2 3/4” x 7 1/2”. The number inside is: A0C-9814. I dug through the authenticate thread and I wasn’t sure if this was authentic. Then I questioned myself whether this style was made as late as 2000. Thanks in advance.sutton bag coach - 1.jpgsutton bag coach - 2.jpg

It looks like this item has been sold but I'm curious as to whether the buyer got genuine Coach hardware. I'm doubtful.

Although I don't patronize nor recommend Poshmark, this is where the listing came from.
seller vtgcoach4less

Hmm. Although the title doesn't describe the items as "Coach" (unlike other similar listings he as that do use "Coach"), the Coach box in the picture implies the hardware is Coach.
