Ah, I see. Thank you so much for clarifying. I was losing my marbles over these online authentication rules.

If you want accurate and up to date information, explanations about why most of those "rules" are so wrong, and a good introduction to Coach history and some of the style families especially the older and vintage bag styles, I strongly suggest you read the Salearea Guides posted right here in the Coach Shopping forum. They emphasize many of the problems that can indicate that a Coach is or might be fake while reminding everyone that no one or two details can EVER prove a Coach is genuine, unlike most of those so-called "authenticity guides". Read the entire thread for a little background about the list itself too. There's also a very good list right after it with some but obviously not all of the most commonly used fake Coach serial numbers.

https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/salearea-guides.983575/#post-32252957

There's a lot of information to take in at once so the dest thing to do is to read it several times and save the link or remember where to find it if you want to refer to it later.

Kind authenticators - when you have a moment, I'd appreciate your thoughts on the following bag I just picked up at Goodwill. Apologies for the picture of the serial number. I had a terrible time getting one due to the small size of the bag. Please just let me know if you need a better one before you can comment! Thank you!

Hello BeenBurned. Yes I agree I was pretty certain this was authentic until I started noticing little things here and there. It seems like a pretty rookie mistake to me to have an entire run on sentence like that. I have not yet seen a creed of that same wording with missing periods. Also, another thing, on the photo where it shows the bag from the front, you can kind of notice a stitch on the slight left of the center that is diagonal, but then again nothing is perfect.

I don't have the bag in my possession yet since I had ordered it Friday and Canada Post doesn't ship on weekends. I'm assuming though that I will receive the bag within maybe 1-3 days since the seller lives only 3 hours away.

As for the serial number, the original photo the seller sent was hard to read but I played with it using photo editing and I believe it says F29434.

I can understand the frustration as it would be 100x easier to be able to inspect the bag in person, but nevertheless, I really appreciate everyone's help.

This may be one from the same plant, a few months later, style F29434. Note the punctuation variations.

.

Oh, I see that now. So that would make sense then. I guess creeds are factory specific since they put the specific factory number on there. In that case, I feel a little bit better about it. I guess all that's left is to wait to receive the purse and do an in-person inspection of the material and the finer details that cameras can't pick up too well. Thank you so much for your help!

Here's another with the same errors and from the same plant. I do believe your bag is fine though a better creed picture would help confirm.

Hello Hyacinth! I agree that Coach can't always be perfect and they can also make mistakes. I just kind of assumed that creed stamps were mass produced for the company in a sense that, they would have the same template for all creeds (the ones with the same wording anyways).

Not at all, at least in vintage bags. I don't know what arrangements Coach makes for current creeds. But the old ones, at least until the move to China, were individually made and at different times for different plants. You also need to know that the creeds and serial numbers were made as separate units. They were stamped separately too the creed was first stamped on the appropriate panel or pocket, and then the serial number including any date changes would have come afterwards. Most creed stamps were fairly similar but even there it was possible to see differences.

The serial number stamps often showed wide variations and were designed to be repaired easily. Fonts used for the various plants' numbers could also vary a lot and some are so distinctive that we can spot a Costa Rica creed within a few seconds, or one of the original C or D plant numbers just as fast. That's why every bag and creed and serial number has to be considered on its own and any comparisons can only be made with another bag of the same exact style and from the same plant and year, and ideally the same month even though we've seen a handful of stamps that were apparently repaired or changed or updated some time other than the first or last day of the month. Coach has never been a slave to the calendar. And Coaches have never been perfect.

We discourage anyone from trying to authenticate any Coach by using just the serial number or creed. You can start working on the assumption that something's fake if it has an invalid serial number, but also have to back up that assumption with other proof. Coach has made plenty of stamping mistakes including style numbers and creed wordings, this thread has dozens of examples. There are so many variations in genuine bags, not to mention very close fakes, that it takes a really complete photo library of both real and fake bags and stampings to say that a creed and serial number matches other proven genuine items exactly and can be presumed authentic. It's not a job for the faint-hearted or anyone who can't handle looking at photos with a magnifying glass or a decent photo management program.

I hope that's what you needed to know, I tend to ramble when I get into my Lecture Mode. ;)

Comments: I put in a modest bid and won this blue Kira 13930 (2009, $898) for $47 but I haven't paid yet. It's going to need some rehab work but I don't see any major issues? Please take a look and give an opinion about authenticity. Thank you.

What a great bag! I've always wanted to find one of these in the wild. I think it looks good. More opinions are welcome.

I know! I don't need another large blue bag but Kira has always been an HG bag to me, so I had to take a chance to grab one at such a good price. I hope that I can rehab her successfully, thanks!
