Wow-you are all a wealth of knowledge. I have been reading this forum the past few days and I must say Ive learned so much! And feel more confident ebay’ing for bags rather thank picking them up at thrift stores or yard sales.

I picked up this beat up bag as a rehab/art piece, a good bargain whether authentic or not for the purpose. Could you advise on authenticity?

Up for auction a vintage Coach 9790 City Bag - unlined brown leather shoulder purse
Bag has a large ink stain in the back
The leather has varation in color and shows signs of wear
Bag held closed by mechanical clasp
All zippers in working condition
Bag has no rips, holes or repairs
Bottom corners show signs of wear
Main section has 1 unlined leather compartment and a zippered pouch
Back has a large slide pouch
Strap has no rip, cracks or repairs - not adjustable
It's an authentic city bag from 1999 but boy, it's had a sad life!

Please authenticate this Poshmark item purchased on Dec 22 and received today. The leather is much thinner and has different feel compare with my other vintage coach bag, the creed is very faint, the serial number is L6H-4158, it stated in the creed the bag was crafted in the United States. The hang tag is 2 pieces thin leather glued together both side has "Coach "stamped on, total thickness only 2mm or 1/16".
Everything just doesn't feel right.

I took some additional photos.

It's an authentic Soho handle bag. The leather is thinner because it is part of the lightweights, or Soho, collection.

There are at least 2 reasons it can't be a Helen's Legacy. The Helen's is like a smaller version of the classic Duffle Sac, it has a ROUND base. This one is oval. The Helen's also wasn't introduced until Autumn of 1994 and would have had the "new" style serial number with the actual style number and a number-and-letter combination for the serial number prefix. It's definitely a genuine 9730 Shoulder Sac made between 1990 and 1993.

Thank you very much for your time, Hyacinth!
