Good morning all, will you look over this listing please? I've been eyeing it for awhile now. Once the brass gets chipped as in the photo of the underside of the flap, does the turnlock need replacing or can that be rehabbed? I'll make sure to also ask that in the rehab thread if needed.

Name: Vintage Station Bag
Item #: 254429022588
Seller: Mart5205

That particular listing shows an authentic bag but the seller has a history of mixing. Beware.

One more listing that is catching my eye and I'm considering testing the offer waters. Are there any boards where we can discuss prices of items and whether a bag is worth an auction price based on its age/condition/rarity or is that prohibited?

Name: Vintage NYC Riding Bag
Item #: 113932129058
Seller: Emilyluv05

It's authentic.

Regarding price, it's not that pricing discussion is prohibited but that price and/or value is so subjective depending on various factors including but not limited to condition, rarity, color, and how badly you want the item. And that's something only you can decide based on the comps you find on ebay and other sites.

And this doesn't take into consideration the seller's attitude toward the item. We don't know what she paid nor how badly she wants to get rid of it. Some sellers don't mind sitting on their item(s) for as long as it takes to get "their" price.

I gotcha. Thanks so much!

Hi Artax two, just an fyi, I have 3 of these. One (in about same condition if I would venture to guess) purchased online for less than half of the asking price on the listing you shared (before I got hooked on thrifting), then I lucked out at thrift stores, one in mint condition black for 4$ and beige trim one in bad shape for 2,99$. Just wanted to share my experience.

Really? See I was feeling very iffy about her asking price. I submitted two offers that were auto declined and I could not bring myself to offer a 3rd time considering tax and shipping would add on at least $20 more. I was thinking because it is a NYC bag and in good condition it might justify her pricing, but I was not sure. I'm glad you chimed in on this, thank you. One of my big issues is patience, so hard as it is, I will try to wait it out for a better priced one. I wish I had as good thrifting options as some of you on here seem to have.

I see one in black for a more reasonable price on ebay when I was looking at the listing you shared. Are you only looking for tan/putty colours?

Item: “Vintage Court Crossbody Bag” (from what I looked up online)
Seller: Consignment store
Not sure if this is authentic or not. I didn’t pay a lot for it which is what made me skeptical. But it feels really real. I can’t get a really good picture of the numbers stamped at the bottom but it reads No 0483-348

Oh! I see another one in tan or putty, not sure which colour. But more reasonable. 65$

Well the $65 one is about 9 inches wide, whereas the one I linked earlier here was 7.5 inches, and there was something I was liking about the smaller size in proportion to the buckle strap, I think it is just ever so slightly cuter/more appealing. But I have a 9 inch bag arriving in the mail today so I am going to see if the size is ok for me for a crossbody, and if so, I may begin to consider the slightly larger riding bags too. (But the 7.5 in ones seem to be a bit more rare in terms of finding research on, though there are a few sold on posh for around $50.) ETA: answer to your first question, I am not specifically looking for putty, but I do love a tan saddlebag, so I'd get one if it were priced right. But I am mainly on the lookout for a black saddlebag, about the 7 to 9 inch range, as I have about 3 vintage bags in british tan already in different styles.
