I was browsing Mercari and came upon this listing. I can't be sure of all of the digits in the serial number, but if the last 4 digits are 9992, this must be a fake. I have limited experience and before calling out the seller, I wanted to check.
It is a navy crossbody with a zipper.

Could someone please have a look?

Thanks so much.
Kathy
It looks like H9B-9992 is getting to be a common enough number on fakes to go on the "fake numbers" list.

I've never even heard of Coach putting their name on sheets or bedding of any kind. I'm also looking at the close-ups of the case and the stitching especially on the right edge of the stripe is awful. LOOK AT THE SECOND AND FIFTH PHOTOS. Stitching is wavy, stitches are all different lengths, IT'S A MESS!. I wouldn't have bought bedding with lousy stitching like that from KMart. I'm not a seamstress but even I could manage a straight line and even stitches with a decent sewing machine.

And no label photos? No tags? When have you seen Coach products without sewn-in Coach tags? No Made In tag or fabric content tag or washing instructions? I'm pretty sure the last 3 are required by US law.

Did you ask for photos of the tags and labels if you're the buyer?

There don't seem to be any Coach bedding images on Google either. There are other designer brand names but they're listed on one of the worst fakes-selling sites in China.

If you haven't paid, DON'T.

I have owned a few Coach store advertising items and I am hoping this is one. After talking to the seller again she swears she worked at the Coach mall store in Louisville, KY at Oxmoor center and they were store couch display pillows made for or by coach for store display and when the store closed she got them. Now this I can believe because they are made very well with an intricate matching piping around the edges and Coach carriage and leatherware emboss. What are your thoughts on this info? Thanks

Hi is this coach phone case authentic with the clip on attachment compared to the belt-hole attachment one? Thanks

Mercari seller: STUFF TO WEAR
The pictures are awful so it's difficult to authenticate and hard to tell if you're actually comparing identical items.

I'd like to see a better picture of the side and a picture of the back of the flap with the female side of the turnlock. If there's a Coach marking, request that too.

I'm not Hyacinth but I've seen enough fakes of nearly every brand that my thoughts are that the seller is lying and you are gullible!

Good Morning. Are these Coach pillowcases authentic? Thanks URL: https://www.mercari.com/us/item/m37229703108/

Seller Jan39

They make fake bedding across all the various brands. There used to be a lot of it on various online sites. Those sites that respond to reports of fakes have removed them (Ebay, Bonanza) but other sites like Mercari, Etsy, etc., don't respond to reports and the sellers know where they can get away with selling them.

Here are some examples:

ETA: About 2 years ago, this search would pull up dozens of fakes comforters, sheets, towels, etc. Now there's just one each in Coach and LV!

Now I'm confused.

When I responded to your original post, the seller with the pillow/cases was Jan39.

Now when I click on the listing, a different listing from a different seller is coming up. That seller, Max&JJ1618 also
has a pillow with fake Coach fabric.

I think once an item is sold, Mercari redirects you to a seller with a similar item. BOTH SELLERS HAVE FAKES.

ATTENTION POSTERS:

As instructed in the title of the thread, those requesting authentications should "**see first post for format**"
It states what information we need and not only is it helpful for us to know that we're looking at the correct listing from the correct seller and site but it's also helpful for future posters and in google because that info will show in searches.

Sellers with both good and bad histories will come up in searches both on the forum and often, in google.

When following up on a previous post, please multi-quote the original one so we don't have to search through several days' worth and several pages of posts to find the request.

In addition, here's a copy of post 1, page 1:
AUTHENTICATE This COACH

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread.

Note: The PurseForum requests that only members with an extensive knowledge of the brand and authenticating who have over 500 posts participate as authenticators in this AT thread. The moderators reserve the right to remove authentications that do not meet these requirements.

Please follow the following rules:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:

    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller:
    Link:
    Comments:

  • If the bag in question is not on an auction site, please use the following:

Item Name (if you know it):
    Link (if available):
Then attach any photos (all authentication must include photos.)
    • Please be sure to include a clear readable photo of the creed stamp and serial number from inside the bag or accessory if there is one, and the bag's measurements when the bag is an older or vintage leather Coach.
    • Since mid-2014, Coach stopped putting serial numbers on creeds so in newer bags where the creeds don't have serial numbers, we also need to see pictures of the labels/tags from inside the bag. They are either both in the main open part sewn into the seam of the lining, or one might be buried deep inside the zipper pocket. One shows where made and the other has a serial number.
  • Authenticators are not required to answer every request and it is their right to ignore a request that is not in the proper format.
  • Please note that comments on price and condition are NOT permitted.
  • Do NOT PM an authenticator or moderator to request authentication. Any and all such requests should be posted in this thread.
  • Should one of your items be questioned in this thread, you are welcome to provide additional pictures or materials supporting its authenticity.
  • Do not handle your disputes with other members in this thread but take your differences to Private Messages. Failure to do so can result in banning.

What a seller SAYS about where an item came from can never be considered PROOF. SELLERS CAN AND DO LIE. Where's the physical proof? Where are the tags and labels required by law? If you're buying something for resale and selling it as a Coach, unless you can supply absolute tangible PROOF that it was made by Coach, you can end up in a heap of trouble with anyone who buys it and wants proof that it's a genuine Coach product. If your "proof" wouldn't hold up in an actual court of law, then it's no proof at all. It's like buying a Sample bag that doesn't have a valid serial number and trying to resell it.
"If a seller cannot verify the authenticity of an item, it can't be listed on eBay."
https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/...-items/authenticity-disclaimer-policy?id=4330
The key word here is "VERIFY".

If you want to sell the cases as Coach products and take that risk, that's your decision. But none of the authenticators in this forum or anywhere else will declare that something's authentic because of what the seller CLAIMS. We deal in proveavble facts, not guessing games, and we've seen enough fake "samples" and "one-of-a-kinds" to know how those sales usually end up.

As for what you claim is such perfect stitching - sorry, I beg to differ. The listing photos I referred to tell me a different story. IF it's a one-off and made for display, and that's a big IF at the moment, that could explain the not so perfect stitching. But so far there's no such proof.

The one with the clip on is by seller 'stuff to wear' on mercari. I have asked for more pics. My main question is the clip on vs the belt loop attachment. the other seller that has the belt loop is vintagecoach4less on ebay. I'm including pics of both that I have.
