Thank you for replying so fast, and for the tips.

I submitted the evidence along with an export of the chat from this community and the coach guide, and Poshmark approved my request for a refund. All is well now in the world of vintage coach.

ALthough navywife123 (Frugalista fashionista) showed a different creed picture (found on the internet) from a fake bag, the creed (and the bag you received) is also fake!

Again, refer her here is she argues.[/QUOTE

In my experience, ebay has been the safest bidding platform to use. I bought a fake bag once and ebay took care of everything, I never had to deal with the seller. It's our responsibility as buyers to look at photos carefully and ask any questions before bidding as far as the condition of the bag is concerned. But if there is undisclosed damage or the bag turns out to be fake, ebay is very supportive of its buyers. Also, most if not all vintage bags are sold "as is" but many of the minor issues common on vintage bags can be easily fixed with a bath and conditioning. I always check auction photos for damaged leather, broken non-replaceable hardware, and stains. Those are hard problems to fix and I won't buy those bags. But normal wear from years of use (light scratches, mild discoloration of edges) often improves with a bath and conditioning.

Another thing to watch for is chopped down or shortened shoulder straps. Coach was a bit slow in adjusting to the changing fashion in "shoulder bags" which back when I was coming into the job market in the early 1970s meant a bag with a long strap, at least 30-35 inches, that let the bag be carried on one shoulder and drop straight down to the hip. Many Coaches from before 1980 had that type of strap, which is why Coach started making shorter 36-inch removable straps (and vice versa) available as an option around that time

When the fashion changed to shorter straps with the bag worn tucked close in to the body and above the waist (what I call "pit bags" ), a lot of people with older bags and their longer straps either punched extra holes in their straps or all too often just cut the straps down. Some had a professional do it, others did it themselves with disastrous results. With vintage bags it's always important to take a good look at the strap including the "point" end and the ends attached to the bag to look for signs of modification.

Thanks for responding.

I received the bag yesterday, and the bag that I received has a different creed number than posted in the listing. I’m hoping I’ve captured the right pictures.

That's why I asked for photos of those specific areas. The "solid brass" stamp on the buckles would not have been found on any bag from the time period the Patricia's Legacy style was made, and the inside pocket zipper is too short. I'm surprised (or maybe NOT surprised considering her "switch" of the creed photos), that she wouldn't have shown photos of one or both of those details in her original photos. Too many coincidences, IMHO.

A "solid brass" buckle wouldn't have had the brass coating coming off in chunks either.

I can't recommend buying from Poshmark seller " navywife123 " especially considering her nasty and threatening comments to a buyer with a LEGITIMATE issue about a "Coach" with a fake serial number. And even moreso because the bag she was selling was also a fake which could have been discovered by a simple Google search of the serial number.

I just saw that she has her store shut down until December 31st for “vacation.”
