Good evening :

Item: Navy Maggie Bucket
Seller: Goodwill
Comments: I used to carry COACH many many years back but I have never studied the features up closed then. It appear to be genuine but I am not sure ... Mainly the imprint of words on the creed has faded, it is not a YKK zipper BUT I also understand that it does not make it a fake bag.

Kindly give me your input on the authenticity of this duffle. Thank you for your time.

You're right, YKK zippers don't prove anything about authenticity, regardless of all the misinformation and just plain lies you'll find on the internet.

The bag is a genuine Maggie Duffle made in 1997.

Hi Hyacinth - Thank you for your quick response. Greatly appreciated. Now the next thing is to research on cleaning this little guy. Have a good evening.

Newer styles made in China or during the "China Era" sometimes have words hyphenated and broken up between 2 lines of text, but classic and vintage styles didn't. So
"mark-
ings"
is almost always fake when found in a vintage style like this one. I've seen a genuine bag from 2002 made in the Dominican Republic where "cow-hide" was broken and hyphenated between 2 lines. So it's not a reliable indicator of a fake.

But usually vintage fakes with that mistake will have other more obvious ones. I hope you noticed the "scrtches"? That misspelling is ALWAYS fake, no exceptions. And M4N- prefixes simply don't exist in real life.
As usual, you AMAZE me with your wealth of knowledge and generosity with which you share it, that goes for all of the Authenticators on this forum. Y'all have helped me out so many times, both recognizing fakes and verifying the real ones. I will report it to eBay. I'll be bugging y'all again soon!

Thanks again!

Item: Silver metallic wristlet
Seller: Local hospital charity thrift shop ($7)
Comments: The leather is soft and feels like a Parker but the double-line of wavy stitching makes me think of the Soho line - but no buckle.

I was surprised by the X on the "made in china" tag, does that mean "made for factory" like a dot often signifies on the tag?

Please share your opinion about authenticity, thank you!

I believe it's a Soho too. (I wouldn't give it a name or collection if not authentic.)

The "X" means that the bag was sold at a discounter like Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, (now OOB) Filene's Basement, Loehmanns, etc. and isn't (or wasn't) eligible or warranty services. I've never found "x" items to be inferior and in my experience, they were frequently boutique items that were shopworn or in such limited quantities that it wasn't worthwhile for Coach to send them to outlets. Sometimes "X" items were also in such large quantities that in addition to sending to outlets, Coach liquidated them to partner discounters.

Thanks! I always thought that an X stamp meant "damaged" in some way so I was surprised to see one stitched into the label on that wristlet.

Here is a previously authenticated plum (?) Gramercy Top Handel Bag 7002 that I rehabbed. The blurry pic from the auction has both an X and a bullseye stamped into the creed patch - and now I know what that means because the bag wasn't damaged.

May I please request an authentication of this little lunchbox bag I received today?

Here is a link to the Mercari auction: https://merc.li/dDjSBQb

Item: vintage rectangle coach purse
Seller: soulblade3034
Comments: it looks genuine to me, I'm just asking for an authentication before I leave feedback. Also, the leather is surprisingly soft on this bag!! I've been shopping almost exclusively for Costa Rican bags but I think I need to widen my searches to 1996 USA leathers. I'm very pleased with this bag, I dearly hope it's authentic. Please let me know if you need additional pics and THANK YOU!!!!
