Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:

BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.

Good evening, could someone please take a look at this tote? It looks like the creed has been somehow damaged, I'm wondering if it's possible to authenticate it? No link since it's a local sale.

I don't believe it was made by Coach.

It's possible that the bag was a counterfeit bag and someone obliterated the creed so it wouldn't be sold as "Coach" but they also should have removed the hang tag.

Wait for Hyacinth or Whateve to confirm.

ETA: After looking at the pictures again, I'm guessing that it may have been a Korean-made fake.

DEFINITELY fake! The interior details and the pocket are totally wrong for any Sheridan, the pocket zipper is too short for the pocket, the creed is thin and cheap, and it looks like there was a different patch on the inside that was replaced with the fake Korean patch. And BB is right, it's definitely a Korean fake. AFAIK they were the only country that made fake Sheridans.

There's nothing right about that bag, they couldn't even get the color of the lining right. Sheridans always have a taupe color lining. If that's actually the back of the leather, that's another red flag, Sheridans are always lined.

I hope you can get your money back.

Comments: my other rogue has the ‘made in Vietnam’ tag in the main compartment v. the suede compartment and doesn’t have the horse and carriage on the flip side, unlike this bag. I can’t keep up with the recent changes though!

Thank you, BeenBurned! I guess whoever damaged the creed didn't want the bag identified. And it's still being sold as a Coach bag.

Thank you, Hyacinth! I didn't buy it - and, thanks to you and BeenBurned, won't. Whenever possible, I try to authenticate the bag before jumping in if I have any doubts.

I don't have any experience with Sheridans, so your input is highly appreciated!

I requested the picture. Seller responded that it's a charity auction and she'd get one when she was back at work today. So far, no photo.

Maybe you can request (and explain why) that they should remove the hangtag and seller the now-generic bag legally.
