  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

I see a potential problem with the HAC logo but I really need to see a picture of the creed and serial number.

ETA: I see a couple of other problems too. But still, without a picture of the creed, I wouldn't report.

ETA #2: For the record, these pictures show a couple of huge red flags:

Yep, the hangtag is probably fake and the strap was mentioned earlier.

Good evening.
If you could authenticate this I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

I believe the "Hippie Zip" 9146 is fake. The Z plant code was still being used by the Dominican Republic in mid-2003. I have examples from March, July and November of that year, all with the DR as the place of manufacture, not the US. The font in the fake' serial number is also much too thick. The strap is also wrong, it's too thin and would NOT have had a mid-strap buckle adjustment AND buckle adjustments at both ends. Search Ebay for Coach 9146 to see what I mean.

Hello BeenBurned, Hyacinth & all you lovely authenticators out there,
I finally have additional photos of the creed from the seller for the Regina bag. Not the best quality photo though, but I hope they work. If they're not clear enough, pls let me know and I'll ask for better shots. Keeping my fingers crossed and thank you again for all that you do! :flowers:

Hello my dearest Authenticators! :flowers:

I realize it's highly frowned upon to purchase on eBay without first getting the item cleared here, but I was going against the clock . So, I did what every irrational shopaholic would do--I hit the bid button, and won.

There's no creed photo in the link (trying to get from the UK-based seller), but I'm hoping the other photos can give an indication of whether it's authentic or fake.

Item Name: Vintage Coach Regina 9983 in Black
Link: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/283597698607

There just aren't enough - or in this case any - details that can prove a Coach is genuine. The creed and serial number photos are the most dependable and sometimes the only way. I'm not comfortable guessing and that's what I'd be doing without that photo, sorry.

If you can't get a photo and still want the bag, it's Ebay. Buy it and post a photo of the creed and serial number here, if it's fake you should have no problem getting a refund from Ebay.

Since it's Sunday and the listing just ended, it's highly unlikely that the seller has already packaged it.

Request more pictures, possibly explaining that you want the bag but it has to be authenticated and the pictures in the listing weren't adequate.

Dear Hyacinth & BeenBurned,

Thanks so much for your great advice. I've already sent a message to the seller asking for more photos, but because it's past midnight over there in the UK, I might only get a reply tomorrow. Once I get the photo, I'll post it here for your review. Hopefully, it's all good. Thanks again! :flowers:

Hi BeenBurned, Hyacinth and all authenticators,
So sorry! Just noticed the photos I uploaded were really low-res. Reposting with my fingers crossed still! Thanks so much!

Don't mean to spam the thread, but I tried enhancing the images on Photoshop a little to make out the serial number. I think it reads, No K6C-9983. Hopefully this helps.

I know it's hard to get inside a bag with a tight opening. I usually use a piece of something cut to size; a plastic straw, a wooden skewer, baby spoon, etc. to hold it open and snap a shot from above.

The bag looks fine.

You've made my day, BeenBurned! :hbeat: Thank you so much. Now to update the seller and get this baby in the mail! Will likely need help again from the rehabbers on the bag's obviously worn corners. Planning to dunk her.

View attachment 4536994 Additional info: I found a scratch or dent alike marks on the strap
If you bought it from a Coach factory outlet, there's no reason to question authenticity. (While it's possible that a dishonest customer may have done a switch by buying a genuine item from Coach and returning a fake, I can count on less than one hand the number of times I've seen the possibility that it may have happened.)

The bag looks fine.

Hi authenticators! I just purchased a bag and would love insight regarding it's authenticity.

I believe I just saw where authenticators don't usually like to authenticate items from Poshmark. I did not realize this so my apologies if this is not allowed.

Hello! I found this bag at Salvation Army. It’s a burgundy color but I’m unsure it’s real.

Item: bucket bag with a flap

Comments: let me know if you need more photos! The leather feels pretty light.
