Hi,
Can you please authenticate this bag for me. Was the pipping along the side of the bag not smooth in vintage coach bag? Sorry this is my first vintage so don't know much about it. I am attaching a pic to show what I mean.
Name: court bag
Color: navy

Seller: dgmelekos
Pictures attached are taken by me just now.View attachment 4459731 View attachment 4459737 View attachment 4459740 View attachment 4459741 View attachment 4459731 View attachment 4459737 View attachment 4459740 View attachment 4459741

It's genuine, Court Bag 9870 from the early 1990s

To answer your other question - no, the piping and stitching on older Coach bags wasn't perfect.

There are a TON of them out there, and no really good pics of the tags and receipts. No way to tell, really, and no way to prove it either way. The overabundace of paperwork is suspicious but it's not proof.
The previous posts were from May 29 but today, I found another Japanese seller with identical pictures, identical items and same phony paperwork and props.

Although (as stated by @Hyacinth) and others, without proof of inauthenticity, we really shouldn't report the items but with the scary close fakes we've seen of 1941 collection, Disney, Nasa and other newer fakes, I don't recommend buying any of the listings from sellers without being able to confirm authenticity.

Here's the listing I just found and the seller has several listings with similar phony props.

seller katoshouten

Pictures from japan-shop-amorey 's listing:

If these sellers aren't the same person (with different accounts), they're definitely working together.

BEWARE!

Yep, and we've seen so many times that when a "Coach" item is trying TOO hard to prove it's a real Coach, whether by stamping the Coach name on every piece of hardware or supplying a bunch of paperwork that isn't even included with genuine items, the best thing to do is to STAY AWAY.

Interesting thing too about that white and reddish "An American Classic" booklet - take a very close look at the Coach logo in the bottom right corner. It's obvious in the first photo in your post but it shows up in one of the other photos too. The base of the "A" is below the line of the other letters. It's probably less than a millimeter lower but it IS lower. None of the booklets I received with bags i bought directly from Coach years ago showed that kind of mistake (and back then the booklet's cover colors were white and brown, not red). It's a very small thing, but that's where counterfeiters make their mistakes, on the small things.

We used to trust sellers located in Japan more than we did the ones located here, because the culture of the country made selling fakes something that was looked down upon. Now it seems that that trust was misplaced. I would NOT recommend buying from Japanese sellers now ESPECIALLY newer ones, unless it's a seller who has a strong record of satisfied customers going back YEARS.

And of course we know one or two long-term Japan sellers who keep trying to sell Korean-made fakes as genuine, but that's another story.

The 1941 collection bags are extremely well faked so I skipped your request, intending to return later. Unfortunately, I forgot to come back so the gentle nudge was helpful.

I think it looks good though I'd like to see the printed side of the tag (with the style/upc/etc.) and a clear picture of the zipper pull.

The style number is correct - 29234. (The other style number you mentioned, 58964 is a tea rose rogue.)
Thank you! I've reached out to the seller and will get back to you.

Still looking! Please take a look at these ebay items, thanks!

Both are authentic and both are 1996.

  • If the bag in question is not on an auction site, please use the following:

Item Name (if you know it):
    Link (if available):
Then attach any photos (all authentication must include photos.)
    • Please be sure to include a clear readable photo of the creed stamp and serial number from inside the bag or accessory if there is one, and the bag's measurements when the bag is an older or vintage leather Coach.
    • Since mid-2014, Coach stopped putting serial numbers on creeds so in newer bags where the creeds don't have serial numbers, we also need to see pictures of the labels/tags from inside the bag. They are either both in the main open part sewn into the seam of the lining, or one might be buried deep inside the zipper pocket. One shows where made and the other has a serial number.
  • Authenticators are not required to answer every request and it is their right to ignore a request that is not in the proper format.
  • Please note that comments on price and condition are NOT permitted.
  • Do NOT PM an authenticator or moderator to request authentication. Any and all such requests should be posted in this thread.
