Hello authenticators. Newbie here  Please help me authentic a handbag. I got this through personal shopper on fb, Malaysia based. No information where she obtained the handbag. Hoping that it's not a scam.(Except for the first pic, Ive already lost the Coach hang tag)
Item: Dreamer 21 In Signature Canvas With Whipstitch

I'll start by saying that I'm aware of a lot of Malaysian and Singaporean (sp?) sellers who buy from sellers in the US to resell on their own "blogspot" websites. And as such, there's usually a link to the site where we can see the seller, her ID, her listings, etc.

I'd like to see her Facebook page with her items. Personally, based solely on the bag and pictures you've posted, I'm not comfortable.

However you didn't include that so I'll just speak to what I see from your posts.
1. Unless your pictures are showing the front and back (identical) of the bag, I'd like to see a picture showing the pattern on the front of the bag
2. Please post a crystal clear and legible picture of the creed and serial number.
3. The UPC # 889532645107 shown on the tag isn't the correct code for that bag nor style. That UPC code belongs to a "Coach Signature Debossed Patent Leather Mini Sierra Satchel, F55450 (Oxblood)
4. The style number (of the authentic version) of the bag is supposed to be 36840 but the creed shows a different number.

Again, please post a link to the facebook page and the additional pictures I've requested above.

ETA: The bag you showed in your pictures appears to be (copying?) style 36838 but with the incorrect tag showing a different style number (36840), a UPC belonging to another different style (55450) and a description for a Bleecker bag, I would return it.

So the front and back of your bag are the same signature pattern? If that's the case, your bag is "supposed" to be 36838. (36840 has a tattoo pattern on the front.)

And if authentic, why does the fake tag have the following, all contradictory:
  • tag style number shown as 36840
  • tag description of a "bleecker kelsey"
  • UPC code of a debossed mini Sierra
Another bothersome (and IMO fake) detail is the creed. The spacing is different from that on what I believe to be a genuine 36838.

In the following picture, notice how on the authentic 36838 bag, the serial number is centered in the space between the border and the bottom of the patch? Notice how your bag has a larger space under the serial number?
Malaysia seller vs auth 36838.png

My opinion is that the bag is fake and it should be returned.

The seller either has to be more careful of how they vet their sources or they are knowingly finding close fakes. Either way, BEWARE!

Edit: Other opinions are welcome.

Another difference I see is the length of the hyphen between the prefix and the style number. The authentic hyphen is longer.

Genuine. We can't identify it without better photos of the inside pocket and accurate measurements but it was made in the early 1990s. "349" is not the style number.

ETA - see my comment in my post about your other question and posting photos.

I agree. I would be very concerned about the inconsistencies in the tag. What is scary is that without the price tag, it would have been very difficult to see any problems.

If the needed photos are included in the listing it's not neccessary to copy them in your post. We might ask you to copy the listing's photos here if it's from one of those selling sites where only registered members can see the photos.
