I have a question on a backpack. The seller had some fakes posted on the HOS (post #1804) recently and in looking for a backpack, I found this listing from the same seller.

She doesn't have a creed picture but is the interior pocket zipper pull one that anyone has seen before? I wasn't even sure the bag is Coach although I can almost see a light creed in the last picture (the one showing the zipper pull).

Another lesson on Coach's inconsistencies...the hangtag on the left is from the J8Y bag. The next 2 came from Jax in May of this year. The 2 on the right were collected a year ago from Coach Outlets between Florida and Virginia by my daughter. Crapshoot it is!

Exactly. And one thing that shows up much more clearly in this photo is that the hole in the J8Y- bag hangtag is much too far away from the edge of the tag, so that pretty much screams "FAKE!". But otherwise it could easily pass for an early to mid-1990s tag from a genuine bag. Looking at the genuine ones, they all seem from different time periods and are probably leftovers that Coach has collected from stores and plants over the years, or like you said, tags that have been sitting in the storerooms of boutiques or outlets for heaven knows how long. The ones with the thicker fonts are usually older but even there you can't expect any consistency.

That style of zipper pull has been used on some Coaches, but I can't be more specific off the top of my head. What I DON'T like is that extra bit of leather at the end of the zipper and the fact that I can't see any sign of it having had a serial number. The creed stamp also looks awfully small for any bag or backpack (especially one that's only 8.5 inches wide side-to-side) and doesn't seem like it's centered on the pocket.

Give me a few minutes to check the listing...

ETA - The hangtag is definitely fake, check my other post # 332 and my comment about the hole being too far from the edge. Same problem here. NOTE - the seller says "the original hangtag is included" and if that's not just another lie than the bag AND the hangtag are both fake. Hangtag pic is below, compare the hole position to the fake one at the far left in JOODLZ's photo, post 330. The bottom corners also look much too round. Also the top extended part is the wrong shape for any tag that still used "Coach LEATHERWARE".

The leather texture is wrong too, it has TOO much texture and looks more like a Sonoma than a standard Coach, and I think that the strap and zipper hardware is copying the Sonoma. But of course there's no Sonoma lining.

Second pic - the stitching at the top of the inside pocket looks like Cwap too.

Lucky you!
We don't know for sure but one theory is that the E stands for extra. We've seen it in full price styles that were made later than the original style, as if they had extra materials lying around and decided to do another production run. This color duffle was sold recently on FOS (Coach's factory online sale) and possibly in outlets, maybe even in department stores. I bought a bag with an E in the creed from the outlet once, probably a year or more after the original style had been in the stores.

I suggest that you condition the corners as they tend to show wear easily and I think conditioner might prevent this.
Awesome! Thanks for the info, Whateve :smile1: I'll definitely condition the corners before I use it. From seeing the aftermath of some of the fun colored bags, I definitely want to keep this one looking good for a long time!

The bag is absolutely authentic and lovely! Enjoy!

I hadn't heard the "extra" theory but it does make sense.

Although any information we have collected over the years hasn't come from Coach since they don't disclose the translation of their coding. It has been from following the patterns we've seen when watching and studying their items.

Because we don't even have Dillard's where I live and while I'm not sure of how accurate this info is, I've assumed the "E bags were Dillard's exclusives. But again, it's theory on my part.
Hrm...Interesting theories, that's for sure! Thanks for the confirmation, BB!

The worst problem with the one from the fake is how close the hole is to the top of the embossing and how far it is from the curved part. The spacing is bad on the bottom too. All of the authentic hangtags have nice proportional spacing all around the edges and have the hole punched pretty much in the same place.

It's possible they used it for Dillard's exclusives and then expanded it for the reason I said. We've seen many newer styles that were copies of full price styles released in the outlets with the E but I think a few people said they bought theirs at a department store as well.

I can't remember which thread had the discussion but it was quite a while ago, maybe a year?

I think it is reportable just on the basis of that frame around the zipper. I've seen zippers like that occasionally on authentic bags, but they were older NYC bags. The hangtag is definitely fake.

Yeah...the hangtag is as WRONG as everything else with that @#$!!! bag!

Could someone please authenticate these Coach shoes?
An unexpected suprise on an otherwise dreary Florida day...for $3.99!
And though they are marked 7 1/2B, they fit my 8 1/2 foot!
Thanks in advance!
