Could someone please authenticate this coach bag I just bought from a lady off Facebook yard sale locally this is my first Coach bag and although I didn’t have to spend a lot on it I’m hoping I made a good choice. Thanks in advance.

Do you still have the URL of the sale page where you bought the bag? Post Number One which you partly quoted mentions that we need the seller's information, item URL, and any auction or listing numbers if it's from an online auction. Those early Signature C styles were faked a lot, and the more info and photos we have, the better.

And welcome to tPF!

No Hyacynth, I’m sorry I don’t, but those pics I took myself if that helps. It’s just a small, maybe 9x5inch bag. Has one zippered interior pocket, bag looks to be in almost mint condition very well cared for. And thanks for the welcome!

Hello! Request to authenticate please. Thank you!
Item name: Coach city bag
Comments: In my collection. Bought from a GW last year. It seems a bit strange to have a white interior on a black bag. Dimensions 11"W 7"H 3.5"Depth

Both are authentic. The top one has been dyed. It was originally white. Hopefully they didn't use shoe polish. The bottom one is a NYC city. There aren't many city bags with NYC creeds because the style wasn't introduced until right before they switched to Made in the United States creeds.

Ok, not a problem. But while you're still learning the ropes here, be sure to double-check that first post to be sure you're including all the information and photos we need. To use an example I ran into years ago with that style, everything seemed good until I looked at a photo of that front clip, and instead of looking like a durable and attractive clip for a nice handbag, the one on the fake when seen in close-up looked like something you'd find in the discount bin of your local hardware store. You never know what detail is going to trip up the ounterfeiters.

The bag is a genuine Signature Clip Hobo from 2001.

Thank you so much! And I will heed your advice from now on as well! So glad to have found my way here, feel like I could use this site to learn a lot along my merry trip in life!

Hi! Can someone take a look at this for me to make sure it is authentic? I had a hard time getting the pic with the style number, but the first number is 5. It is in my possession and it is 9wx6hx2.5d.

Thanks in advance!

I have sort of accidentally started collecting Coach and D&B handbags because I find great bargains on bags I already love, but of course, I still have plenty to learn about the brands, which leaves me open to possible mistakes. Because I prefer the harness-leather type bags, I operate under a strict code of, "If I'd pay that much for the leather itself then I'm good", because I have NO problem ripping apart a fake for the materials. What I AM well-versed in is quality of leather and workmanship regardless of brand, and my eye for detail has helped me so far, and my black Willis is my go-to daily bag. I am hoping to get some insight into the following bag I purchased at Goodwill yesterday. This one stumps me, because there are few to no examples online of this exact style, though I can find VERY similar ones, and because this one seems to fall in that post-creed, pre-serial-number time frame. It measures about 15" high with an oval base about 13" x 5", and the handles are about 23" long from end to end, or with a rise of about 9.5" above the top of the bag. The details appear good, and the leather itself is worth every bit of what I paid, even in the condition it is in right now. So, do I have a genuine Coach bag, or do I have some good harness leather?

Thanks in advance!

Completely genuine, but I don't know the name. It's almost a Shopping Bag but the base is different.

WHATEVE is our expert authenticator and ID'er for vintage and Cashin-era Coach, she might know what Coach called it

And welcome to tPF!
I think it could be an early version of 9785, zipper tote. That style didn't have center front and back seams, but we've seen early duffles that had center seams while later versions didn't, so that might be the case for this one too.

Comment: J4K prefix, United States made, is on daria48 list as "probably always fake" so I just want to be sure before I report it

Thank you.

The J4K is fake.
Okay, this is a weird one!

While reporting the (now removed) fake, I took a peek at adorno.nina1981's other listings and found this one.

While the creed and stamping appear correct (creed from an authentic bag), the whole pocket and shape are wrong for a willis.

I've never seen anything like this. In fact, I see what appears to be stitching holes at the top of the pocket below the zipper. Do you think this piece of leather was added to the bag by "someone?"

From what else I see of the bag itself, the bag appears to be authentic. But the pocket!!!!

I don't think there's any unusual pocket. I think what you're seeing is the front of the bag pushed down to show the Creed stamp.
