I'd appreciate that. Ticking lining makes more sense than that random fabric.

Could you check inside each wallet to see if there is a stamp showing where they were made? Usually it is hidden under a fold.

Remember this post way back when? I finally got that wallet back from my friend who didn’t want it anymore. Here are the pics. Not sure if the style name or anything and not even sure if it’s genuine!IMG_4147.jpgIMG_4148.jpgIMG_4150.jpgIMG_4151.jpg

Both the tan and black bags have the same slightly off-center logo and skinny base on the J. It is a puzzlement. But it was also probably the last month of production at the C plant, unless anyone has a valid creed dated after September of 2000. We've seen other examples of Coach not giving a flying feck about plants at the end of their usefullness and how their equipment, stamps and standards were allowed to let slip, the Costa Rica plant being the prime example. So strange things sometimes happened right before a plant shut down.
Thanks for the detailed explanations!

Thanks

Thanks Hyacinth & Catbird9..

So perhaps the color Saddle is richer and darker than Camel.. just curious.. i have only one in British Tan, and want to have another little lighter for a vintage Coach.. It's between these two, saddle and camel..

Without actually rummaging through a dozen catalogs I'm prretty sure that Saddle is an older color, mostly in true vintage styles. Camel just came out in 1998 or 1999. Someone whack me on the head with a dead fish if I'm wrong, please.

This and the posts right after it give a good sampling of Coach colors from the early 1980s to the mid-1990s. The years they were available appear in order in the body of the posts.

And for Pete's sake, DON'T depend on most sellers to list the correct name in their sale or auction listings. Coach changed colors often, and especially in vintage bags they made so many different shades of tan and light brown that sometimes it's hard for us to figure out the actual color. How the bag was cared for (conditioning, where and how it was stored, etc) also affect the color..

They both seem to be OK but I don't have an NYC fob for comparison, more opinions are welcome.

I'm working on a NYC bag right now. It is looking a lot like camel, with more yellow than British tan, almost no red. The bag is most likely saddle, the case is definitely BT. BTs varied over the years so some are more red than others. I don't know the year of my case but I think it is probably from the 90s.

Remember that nickel (silver) hardware wasn't introduced until 1997, and once it was, it was used with camel leather and not with BT. So if you see nickel hardware with a yellow brown on a classic style, it is probably camel. I don't have a camel item right now to compare with my supposed saddle. I'm thinking camel might be lighter. It's hard to tell what the original color of my NYC bag was since it has aged and patinaed.

I don't see any problem with either listing.

Thanks Hyacinth.. i found several unmatched color in the item's name, like you said..

For color, i think i'll try to find saddle.. perhaps camel is too light as I am not a careful person, a bit afraid that I will put a permanent stain in the leather..

Thanks

Thanks whateve for putting the catalog of camel color in here and put your camel next to british tan..

I was confused to distinguish between saddle and camel.. since I am into saddle now, that information about silver hardware will be useful..
