Hello! I found two coach bags at my local flea market. On this one the creed is flat and unreadable but I can see the number:

Hampton Signature Scribble C Hobo

And this is the second bag I found at my local flea market. It’s heavy and sturdy feeling. Thanks in advance! Don’t want to take the time and effort to clean these up and keep if they aren’t real.

Black Signature Canvas Carly

Both are authentic.

The first is a scribble hobo from 2004 and the second is a signature Carly bag from 2007.

Both styles are highly faked but you got the real deals! (Some of the fakes have "correct" serial numbers so googlers, be careful!)

long time reader, first time poster. I pretty much can always authenticate coach bags just from entering the creed number.. this bag has me stumped. Its not a purse, but more of a pouch. It's not in a listing. I'm just wondering it this is authentic, and hopefully some help in identification. The leather is top quality, the stitching is top quality. The lock is like one you would see on a briefcase. and there are two keys. thank you in advance for any help. the interior is super strong some kind of nylon,, similar to that found inside tumi cases. the size is aprox. 11 wide by 8 1/2 inch high, and about 1.5 inch deep. ( i forgot to take exact measurements.
The bag is authentic from 2002.

I feel I need to comment on the statement you made that I've highlighted in red.

While you can sometimes determine that a bag is fake by googling the serial number, it can be a dangerous way to "authenticate."

Many fakes have seemingly "correct" serial numbers, meaning that the serial number is correct for the style that the bag is copying.

As I posted in my response right before this one, both the bags that CricketShops asked about are styles that the counterfeiters have copied pretty well and one needs to know what to look for to accurately authenticate them.

thank you so much for this information. I didn't mean to imply that I was in any way that the creed number necessarily authenticated.. I meant to say, the creed number usually helps me identify. I wasn't clear in my post. When i typed in this creed number, i couldn't find anything. You said the bag was made in 2002? do you have any more info on the bag, was it a mans bag? or do you know the style name. Thank you so very much. As always, the expertise in these forums far supasses any other online source available.

Coach's business and travel line was generally listed on their site as men's items although many items are gender neutral.

I wasn't able to find the exact style of your briefcase but I found a similar one, style 5307 COACH METRO TRANSIT BRIEF. Someone else might have a catalog with the style of your bag.

ah ok, i did see that briefcase.. this is about half that size.. so it's not really a briefcase.. and it doesn't have a long ,just the pull out, hide away wristlet strap.. as seen in the pic.. But thank you for the heads up,,its a good place to start doing more research..if I can find the item, i will post back here . Maybe in the future someone will be looking for the same thing..

There's nothing in the catalogs, Coach had already started to phase out the briefcases and other business items from the catalogs by the beginning of 2002. I agree that it looks like it's from the Metro line since I own the smaller version of the briefcase BeenBurned posted, the Metro Mini Brief, and very few other Coach lines use that type of lock.

ETA - I have a photo of it from a listing in my files titled "maybe Metro Clutch" but there's no official Coach graphic I can find with that name, so Metro Clutch(?) with a question mark is as close as I can come.

Hello! Please excuse me if I’ve put this in the wrong area. I’ve had a challenging time figuring out how to post on the Coach authenticate thread (even though I’ve done it before...).

The bag I would like checked out is:
M5L - 5130
8.5”L x 9”H x 2”W approximately
It is missing the crossbody strap

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration!

Genuine Station Bag from 1995.

ETA - sniped again!

I would like to kindly request authentication for this bag. I've had it for some years but I never carry it. I think I might sell it because it is silly just living in my closet.

As I was starting to prep it for eBay (because I've never used the fancier consigner shops), I noticed an oddity in the serial number. Actually, I had noticed it in the past, but since I never use this purse, I had forgotten that it got my attention previously.

It looks like a serial number was added. I don't think the color change is as dramatic with my eye, but it jumps out at you with a flash photo. Also, it's not just a heat stamp, it appears to be glued. I've never tried pulling on it to confirm. Well, I've kind of tried to put my fingernail underneath it and it doesn't feel glued on, but it looks it. What the heck is going on? I'm sure I could give it a tug, but I don't want to.

The bag is brown, like the heat stamp picture, not black as it appears in the second picture.

I think I've seen this style before. It feels like an authentic Coach. everything about it seems authentic, except the serial number. I'm sooooo curious.

Many thanks!
