Hi! I would greatly appreciate your evaluating this "Coach" bag. In researching this style, looking at images others posted of their Creeds and #s mine looks the same with some "imperfection" to the stamping of the numbers below the creed - perhaps due to the age of the bag and hand stamping? Fingers crossed...View attachment 4150490 View attachment 4150502 View attachment 4150503 View attachment 4150504 View attachment 4150505 View attachment 4150506 View attachment 4150490 View attachment 4150502 View attachment 4150503 View attachment 4150504 View attachment 4150505 View attachment 4150506
EDITED:

Please wait for other opinions. I looked again and I think I'm seeing some differences. It could be the angle but I'd like confirmation.

Oops - I'm so sorry - forgot to include the other info:
Not on auction site, don't have any item number
measures 9" across at opening, 9.5" from edge of opening to bottom seam.

Thank you very much!

Is there a 2-part round magnetic snap holding the flap closed? If so we need to see a CLEAR readable closeup of the part of the snap with letters and numbers stamped on it. It doesn't have to be a huge photo but it does need to be readable. Thanks!

BeenBurned, I'm seeing as many similarities as discrepancies. The pic of the magnetic snap should help, without that I'm leaning toward genuine but we'll see. The creed stamp looks right and even the slightly off-center underscore under "No" is correct.

AUTHENTICATE This COACH

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread.

Note: The PurseForum requests that only members with an extensive knowledge of the brand and authenticating who have over 500 posts participate as authenticators in this AT thread. The moderators reserve the right to remove authentications that do not meet these requirements.

Please follow the following rules:

  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.

    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller:
    Link:
    Comments:

  • If the bag in question is not on an auction site, please use the following:

Item Name (if you know it):
    Link (if available):
Then attach any photos (all authentication must include photos.)
    • Please be sure to include a clear readable photo of the creed stamp and serial number from inside the bag or accessory if there is one, and the bag's measurements when the bag is an older or vintage leather Coach.
    • Since mid-2014, Coach stopped putting serial numbers on creeds so in newer bags where the creeds don't have serial numbers, we also need to see pictures of the labels/tags from inside the bag. They are either both in the main open part sewn into the seam of the lining, or one might be buried deep inside the zipper pocket. One shows where made and the other has a serial number.
  • Authenticators are not required to answer every request and it is their right to ignore a request that is not in the proper format.
  • Please note that comments on price and condition are NOT permitted.
  • Do NOT PM an authenticator or moderator to request authentication. Any and all such requests should be posted in this thread.
  • Should one of your items be questioned in this thread, you are welcome to provide additional pictures or materials supporting its authenticity.
  • Do not handle your disputes with other members in this thread but take your differences to Private Messages. Failure to do so can result in banning.

Purchased from an estate sale. Is this a fake?

Sorry, first time poster. It is about 11 inches by 8.5 inches. Pocket in back with shoulder strap and hand strap. I bought it at an estate sale where they quoted it as a vintage coach purse. Stitching seems good.

Yes, it's fake. If the people running the estate sale are local, you should try and get your money back. Selling counterfeits under ANY circumstances is against US federal law and that includes estate sales. If you're not very familiar with Coach details and serial numbers I recommend that you only buy them used if they can be authenticated here first before buying or bidding.

Thye leather trim above the turnlock is wrong, the wording of the creed stamp is COMPLETELY wrong for the indicated year code for 1997, the fonts used in the serial number are wrong for the indicated plant code, and the supposed style number 8188 isn't even close to matching the correct style number of the bag which should be 9927. I don't even think style 8188 is a handbag of any kind, the only Coach item with that number is a pair of sunglasses. We could probably find even more problems but the ones I already listed are absolute proof that it's fake.

Item: Coach Bucket Bag
Listing number: 6642624731
Link: https://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/clo/d/coach-leather-bucket-bag/6642624731.html
Comments: The letters JGH are stamped under the creed, do you know what that means? I suppose that it could be a monogram but it is a strange place for it!

It looks like a home-made monogram, and not a very attractive one. I definitely think it's better INSIDE the bag - would you want that on the outside of your Coach?

And yes, it's genuine
