The only VALID E plant creeds are from Italy, that was their unique plant code from the very beginning until it was updated to "12" when plant codes were expanded to 2 numbers. We've seen quite a few fakes with USA creeds and I'm afraid this is one of them. The spacing of the words doesn't match that of genuine E plant creeds.

Below is a genuine one from the same month and year. At least I'm guessing that the year code is an 8, if it's anything lower that's even better proof that it's fake.

Hi everyone. I found this cute little Coach while thrifting at Goodwill and would like to have some information on it and have it authenticated as i plan to resell on poshmark if the bag is authentic. I've owned many Coach bags but have never seen this particular style. Thank you.15330686237835096280097004311935.jpg 15330686972436336533180537487136.jpg 15330687649411517034546763402413.jpg 15330688249004619049792053654237.jpg

I'm wondering about this one:
Seller: shopgoodwill.com

Comment: Weird serial number prefix; no key fob on inside pocket. Thanks!

Probably fake, for both those reasons. Coach NEVER used "8" as a handbag plant code. Also that was a Fall 1997 style so a January 1997 month code seems a bit too far away from the intro date. I would NOT buy that no matter how good the price is. The missing snap-in keyfob in any GENUINE Metropolitan Flap Bag would have sent it right to the outlets or to an employee sale

Once again the alleged "authenticators" at Authenti**** First miss another easy call. The listing states:
"*Authentic* - Items deemed “Authentic” have been verified by Authenti**** First, LLC, stating to the best of their knowledge the item is authentic. If you believe an item not authentic, we will need documentation from a professional stating otherwise. All authenticated items will be shipped with a copy of Authenti****First’s email."

Welcome to tPF!

One of the thread Rules in post number One of this thread states
  • Please note that comments on price and condition are NOT permitted.
You can check Ebay to try and find what other examples of this style sold for once we figure out exactly what style it is. Please post a photo of one of the narrow sides of the bag so we can see how it's made, there are several possibilities. I'm thinking it's an early 1990s Oliver Bag style 9902 which has very distinctive side panel details. If this one has them they're not in any of your photos. Photos of any possibly unusual details should always be included.
