Hello, I recently found, aat an estate sale, what appears to be a Coach Taft Bag. It looks Authentic It's great quality but the style # is wrong. #J4C-9951. Since it's a 1994 bag is there a possibility the stamps could have gotten mixed up? I know it sounds pretty far fetched to me too.. Lol. Pics attached View attachment 4137967 View attachment 4137967 View attachment 4137968
It's fake. Even if Coach had made a mistake, their 1994 creeds didn't look like that. I've seen that same fake creed in other fakes.

Hi all - back again... is this bag authentic vintage? Any help appreciated, thank you!
Serial appears to be: 142-4701

No, it's NOT possible, for several very good reasons.

1- the serial number font is wrong for any bag from the C plant from ANY time period.
2- there's one other small detail that should be on almost every genuine J4C- creed but it isn't on this one.
3- the serial indicates the bag was made in September 1994 but the Taft wasn't even introduced until a full year later, Fall of 1995.

Pictures of the back of the turnlock and of the strap buckle might also show other problems, but that bag is as phony as a 3-dollar bill.

If the people who ran the sale are still active in your area, you should try to get your money back. Selling fakes by ANYONE in the US is against US Federal law. If a seller doesn't have a solid refund policy effective at least for 10 days after the sale and the item can't be authenticated before buying, it's best to just pass and not take the chance.

Hi, would love help authenticating these two bags
Item: “Bonnie Cashin British Tan Coach Bag”
Listing number: (? Don’t see this on etsy)
Seller: boxofhollyhocks
Link: https://etsy.me/2uA3DCM
Comments: No. is glued in but looks very new, pic on Etsy listing

And
Item: “Brown Coach Courier Bag”
Listing number: (? Don’t see this on etsy)
Seller: boxofhollyhocks
Link: https://etsy.me/2uxIAAK

If anyone can point me towards advice on evaluating and authenticating older bags, I’d be very grateful. I’m new here. TIA!
Both are authentic. Neither are Bonnie Cashin. Bonnie Cashin bags don't have creeds. The first is basic bag, made between 1979-1983.

1- genuine Basic Bag 9455, probably mid to late 1970s
2- genuine Courier Bag, 1980s

Neither is "Bonnie Cashin Era".

Information and how to spot some signs of fakes can be found in the Salearea Guides posted and Pinned in the thread of the same name near the top of the Coach Shopping page. These are ONLY guidelines, there is NOTHING that can prove a Coach is genuine unless every detail of the item is correct for the style, year, plant, and sometimes even the month it was made. Any "guide" that promises to show you how to authentice Coach products is selling snake oil and will end up costing you money. Study the basic guidelines in the Salearea Guides, then come here for final authentication.

Thank you for authenticating Hyacinth and Whateve! I found the guides right after I posted, and they were definitely helpful in figuring out ballpark dates. I was pretty sure neither were Bonnie cashin.

I just received it today and right off the bat it seemed off, although the listing seemed authentic. The “solid brass” part on the buckles throw me off but the zippers are ykk. Apologies if I get anything wrong this is my first post.

Be careful if buying from boxofhollyhocks. She seems to mix; knowingly or not, she's not verifying authenticity of her bags before listing.

This is one of her listings:
