I believe it's okay. Wait for confirmation. (The A plant isn't common but the creed looks correct compared to others in my records.)

Thank you so much! I’ll wait for further confirmation

It looks good to me too. The box is also genuine and from the correct time period (1995)

ETA - I'm not sure that the hangtag on the first bag in your post, the City Willis, is original to the bag. It may be a replacement and might not even be genuine, but sellers often buy hangtags on Ebay to replace missing tags on bags they're selling, and often they unknowingly receive fakes. If you resell the City Willis I'd recommend taking off the hangtag and just describing the bag as "hangtag not included". As we've already posted, the bag itself is genuine.

Thank you so much! I had a hunch on the hangtag, if I get the bag, I’ll definitely remove it!

Please help me authenticate this Coach Madison Black Gathered Leather Satchel....model 15942. Does anyone know why the emblem looks a bit different - did they change the emblem in later models? Thank you so much in advance!!!

Did you buy this online? If so, please refer to post 1 of page 1 for the information. We like (and need) to see the listing, pictures and seller ID.

Also please post a clear and legible picture of the full creed and serial number.

In the meantime, I'm preparing side by side comp pictures comparing your images to mine from two different Sabrina style bags. (I don't have a pleated bag to compare but the HAC plaque should be the same.)

Will be back!
I'm back with my side by side comps. I'd still like to see where the bag came from as well as the additional picture of the creed.

I'd like clarification on the problems you're concerned with. I think I see a slight difference in the window of the carriageScreen Shot 2018-04-19 at 7.26.52 PM.png

It's not necessary to repost the same pictures if the listing shows them.

We do need to see the hidden label (probably buried way down inside the zippered pocket) with the production information/serial number.

For future requests, please refer to post 1 on page 1 of the thread for the posting format we need. It's helpful in searches for sellers and/or listings.

Over the last several years, we've been seeing some extremely close faking of newer styles. Authenticating them takes a lot of time and that's only possible when sellers have clear and detailed pictures. Neither listing shows the made in tag, something that's necessary when the creed doesn't state where it was made.

I have a couple of other comments.
1. both bags have tags indicating the color is heather grey but one listing appears to be significantly darker than the other. I don't know if it's lighting or the actual color difference but you might want to check with the sellers to verify the color.
2. although both bags are identical and both were made for full-priced stores, one was apparently purchased from the outlet, as indicated by the tag with "F" in front of the style number. That price tag was made at the outlet and for some reason, the UPC code is slightly different from the other.
raehart1 's UPC ends with 82114 (boutique)
ozarksmeadows's UPC ends with 82115 (outlet)
I'm not sure why that is. AFAIK, identical items (same style, color, size) should have identical UPC codes.
3. I noticed that the two listings seem to have different zipper pulls on the inside zipper pocket (above the creed). I'm not sure what that means or why they differ.
4. It could be lighting but the listing from ozarksmeadows seems to have yellower stitching on the creed.

OTHER OPINIONS ARE WELCOME. If any other members have this bag (style 86856) and can offer any information, please feel free.
Thank you so much; I appreciate your time. I would appreciate any information from any member who has a Coach Rogue Satchel with the snakeskin handles/trim.

Hi there! Could someone help me authenticate this vintage Coach bag I picked up while thrifting? I feel like something is off with the serial number. Thanks!

I don't have the grey version. Mine is black with snakeskin embellished handles and suede lining. To my knowledge the bottom should always read "genuine glovetanned pebble leather"

Edit- when I look at sold listing on eBay- none of the grey satchels have the "genuine glovetanned pebble leather" marking on the bottom. So maybe coach skipped the stamping with this color? (just to confuse everyone I'm sure!!!)

Happy Friday everyone! Please bare with me as I am brand new to the forum, this being my first post ever, but I am in need of some assistance. My birthday is Monday and my gracious fiancé is buying me a bag, yay! I’ve found a beautiful Coach Swagger 20 shoulder bag on a local resell site and was wondering if you all could help me authenticate it? It has coach stamped in the hardware which is what I tend to look for so to me it looks good... but I’d love some seasoned opinions. The photos I have are directly from the lady’s offer page who is selling it so I apologize for lack of quality! Any insight is greatly appreciated, this baby shoulder bag will be my third from the Swagger line!

Thank you! Please let me know your thoughts on the emblem. Look authentic? Did they ever make slight changes to that emblem over the years, accounting for why it might be different between bags from different years? Thank you SO much!

Welcome to tPF!

Please read post number One in this thread for a list of photos that we need to authenticate. Your seller's photos aren't clear enough, several are out of focus, and there aren't any clear readable photos of the creed patch and serial number (if it has a stamped number on the patch), as well as the fabric or plastic "Made In" tag on the inside and any tag inside with the style number and production codes. Nothing in the seller's photos can be used by us to verify authenticity, sorry. And we don't recommend buying any "Coach" without a full set of photos, especially from a private party who has NO legally enforceable refund process if the bag turns out to be fake.

And I have to ask - why do you think a stamp on a piece of hardware can ever prove something is genuine? If that's one of your criteria to reassure yourself that what you're buying is genuine, you're making a serious and potentially VERY expensive mistake. Why wouldn't professional counterfeiters be able to make or buy faked stamped hardware? That's as dangerous a method for telling read from fake as the "only real Coaches have YKK zippers" nonsense. ANYTHING A MAKER CAN MAKE, A FAKER CAN FAKE.

Are you aware that many genuine Coaches, especially older ones have little or NO stamped hardware at all? With many styles, the more the hardware is stamped, the more likely it is that it's fake. Recent styles in general have more stamps on their hardware than older styles, but the stampings still don't prove anything, unless we can see clearly that the stamps aren't the same as a known genuine example of exactly the same style made in the same time period. Please stop reading those useless internet "authenticity guides" if that's what you're using because you may be getting some very bad information.

That is not the only criteria I follow, just something I look for to start off with, but thank you for the information. I do not lean toward bags made before 2014 so no I’m afraid I’m not familiar with older bags not having stamped hardware. The way I’ve authenticated my other pre-loved purchases is hardware, stitching, creed/style no# and the small tag inside. I’ve done pretty well so far seeing as I have all authentic pieces, I just thought the forum would be a way to make the otherwise obnoxious process fun :) I will provide more photos if it passes my standards and I end up purchasing it :)
