I took this bag in for consignment but upon closer inspection the tag and bag seem off. The only place it says Coach is on the hang Tag and I couldn’t find another style like it in my research. Is this bag authentic? Thanks for your time

Hello ladies!

Name: Vintage Coach Coral Leather Small Shoulder Bag
Item number: 253567783575
Seller: savvyshoppe
Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-CO...783575?hash=item3b09d15297:g:KtoAAOSwGMJa1PhW
Comments: The color caught my eye, but a quick search showed a totally different style, like a small pouch bag. Just trying to make sure if fake, before reporting. Thanks.
That's so odd. I wouldn't report it. The style number should be 4148 but the creed looks authentic.

I think it looks fine. Smaller bags from this era often don't have a creed. I had a clutch like this but I can't find the pictures at the moment.

Genuine. The creed looks fine even if the style number is wrong. (Correcting my previous post)

My offers (I feel) are very reasonable- and also leave room for a counteroffer. Many times I just purchase too if something's a great deal. Probably 80% of the time my offers are accepted. I sell too and I HATE lowball offers so I avoid that. Sometimes I think sellers get greedy- they get 1 offer early and decide to decline, increase the price, and wait. Good luck to them.

I suspect the mistake is the reason Coach sent the bag to a discounter ("X" stamped on the creed). X-bags carry no warranty and can't be returned to Coach.

The seller also has the same bag (as well as other items) on Poshmark although I recommend ebay. Not only is it cheaper on ebay ($39.99) vs. $45 on PM, ebay is considerably more ethical if there's a problem with a sale or purchase.

Thank you so much ladies, that's why I asked here first because I remember you mentioning that Coach is not free of mistakes, and unless the signs are way too obvious to make a bag fake, I come to the experts when in doubt.
Thanks about the Poshmark tip as well.

I have another caveat.

While the bag seems to be 100% authentic, you might run in to problems if you were to try to sell it. Personally, I wouldn't buy a bag with an error unless it was totally for my own use without my having any intention of reselling. Too many buyers read inaccurate guides, assume too many "always/never" rules and are quick to file disputes. Reselling might cause headaches you don't need!
