I'm sorry but I don't recommend Listia. They knowingly allow fakes to be listed and sold and unless a seller admits to not knowing whether an item is authentic or if they admit it's fake, Listia won't remove listings.

In fact, they've had several authenticators from other boards who have volunteered their expertise and services to help Listia be a safe marketplace and instead of showing appreciation for those offering to help, they've banned them from the site. (I know this from personal experience.)

Here are a few posts about Listia and what we think of that site and its mods and admin:

If you want to buy authentic Coach, I recommend you patronize sites that at least make an honest attempt at protecting its members. IMO, Listia isn't one of those sites.

Wow, they sound like bad news. I just started a month ago on that site. I sold something there in hope of getting some baby clothes as I was a month away from my due date.

I realized they were bad news when a buyer threatened to give me bad feedback if I did not refund her credit. I told her it was winter so delivery is slow. She filed a complaint regardless. Well, I gave her refund and did not bother as it was only 3,000 credits or so. Next day, the ring came. Worst experience. I used my own money to buy credits and the person I bought baby's clothes from never delivered. She made up a story that someone from my place did not accept and curse the mail person out so it got returned. Needless to say, I been trying to QUIT that site by using up whatever credits I got. I regret even more selling a perfectly good purse that I had and now to be stuck with credits that I can't use as the stuff are "fake" or it is overpriced.

I truly dislike the site and how dishonest people are. I find it sad that people try to take advantage of each other for a few credits.

Thanks. It was an interesting read!

Regarding LISTIA, what needs to happen is that honest members need to let the site owners and admin know that they're unhappy with the site, that they're getting scammed by buyers and sellers, that they aren't happy with what they're reading about the site's response to fake reports and how their lack of action is in conflict with their rules.

If enough people complain (without just walking away), hopefully they'll do something to change. If you and other don't let them know why you're unhappy, they don't understand that there are issues that need to be addressed or they just think it's one or two people who are unhappy. There's strength in numbers. Make some noise and get others to do so too.

Could someone please authenticate this Coach Leatherware bag?

Mid 80's-early 90's Ciity Bag #9790, yes?
Thanks in advance, as always!

Hi! New to the forum. We found a couple of Coach items at Goodwill and listed them, then decided we'd better make sure they weren't fake. Ended the listings, thought about paying to have them authenticated, but found out they are probably not worth enough to do so. We found your great forum, and thought we would check with you. Thanks so much in advance!

These are our own listings, but they have been ended. I hope the links work. I apologize if they don't.

Comments: We purchased this at Goodwill. We don't know anything about Coach, and don't want to get in trouble for selling fakes, so we ended the listing and thought we would ask your opinion on the authenticity. Thanks!

Welcome to TPF. It's a good idea to authenticate your goodwill purchases and I'm sure I speak for other authenticators too when I say we appreciate sellers who do their due diligence. In the Coach subforum, we don't mind helping sellers who preauthenticate their items.

But it's against TPF rules to post your own listing(s) as it can be interpreted as advertising and promotion so if you have items you purchased, post their pictures prior to listing them.

As for the bags, I'm not expert on the vintage item although I believe it to be okay. Wait for other opinions.

The bumble bee mini skinny is authentic from about 10 years ago. It's style 8960.

The first one is genuine, probably it would have been called a Zippered Clutch at the time it was sold, mid- or maybe late-1970s would be my guess. The style number was 9455 and it was called a Basic Bag after about 1980. It is missing the wrist strap, which you already mentioned, but accurate replacements are available from several online sellers.

The second one is also genuine, a Soho Optic Signature Mini Skinny with Applique, style number 8960 from Spring 2006.

Thank you for understanding the importance of authentication. :smile1:

Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for the info and quick reply. We will be sure and preauthenticate before listing from now on.
