Please check Post number One of this thread, we need the name, location and URL of the website or seller from whom you bought it.

You can't compare the details to other bags unless you're comparing them to EXACTLY THE SAME BAG in the Coach store. Are you? Because I'm not sure why the back is different from the other styles with the same 72226 number that I'm seeing on Ebay.

The name is Charles Pack Varsity Leather Dark Saddle Mahogany. I bought from bananina.co.id there still has same style yet different color. When i check on internet such as ebay or amazon there is no different with mine, the back is not leather. I dont know if this bag is old stock(version) or not. Few days ago i went to the coach store, almost their sling bag’s leather on the back.
My questions is this bag authentic or not? Thankyou

I’m not an authenticator so I won’t comment on your bag in particular, but I can say Coach has backpacks with nylon backs. The mini Charlie for example, which is the smaller version.

Duffle Sac Trivia, Anyone ? I'm not particularly concerned about this bag, except that the serial number has almost vanished & person I bought it from said she's had it since the 80s. Finally located a faint print of No and 9085-so she's either mistaken or She inherited this from her Great Aunt Gladys..dotdotdot.
So, TRIVIA?? Does anyone know when COACH changed the Duffle Sac buckle attachment from one Brass grommet -thingy- tack to two.

I'm totally not into working today. So. See if you can see the 9085 number in my pics. I can't find anything wrong with this bag except it is slathered with some black wax shoepolish crapola.P1370012.JPG P1370016.JPG P1370009.JPG

I really can't read the creed so I can't tell you if it is authentic. I believe they changed the strap attachment to two grommets in the late 80s sometime. I've seen several with NYC creeds that used two grommets.

If you mean the white tag in the first photo, I'm not sure how much clearer that photo could be. The tag DOES show that it was made for the Factory Outlet stores.

Dear Hyacinth, first and foremost many thanks for helping out :) i have requested my seller to provide me clearer pictures.

Meanwhile, yes. I meant the white tag. It does show it was made for factory outlet but the tag is lil different than what i found on a japan webstore. The japan webstore's coach bag white tag font is more thicker and neatly aligned whereby the one provided by my seller is thin and not aligned.
Im not sure which is authentic.

If it was bought from an online seller or site, please post a link to the listing. Where is the seller located?

The seller is selling on carousell. Seller is from Malaysia

BTW, you're probably never going to find any correct information about how to spot fakes for newer styles made in the last 3 to 5 years. Every style is different, outlet bags usually don't leave much of a photo trail, and the fakes makers are getting more accurate, some of the most popular styles like the Swaggers are VERY closely faked and almost need to be looked at by an expert with a magnifying glass and compared to what's known to be a genuine bag in the same style. The biggest problem is that many styles from that period don't have any serial number stamped on the creed, or it's just a generic and invalid number used by several different styles. The only "rule" that still holds MOST OF THE TIME is that the standard Signature and Op Art C patterns are usually centered, at least on the front of the bag or wallet. But that's not much of a help, the more accurate counterfeiters figured that out a long time ago. Only the cheapest fakes still make that mistake. The only reasonably safe thing to do is to ask here before you bid or buy.

Thats why i chose to get it authenticated with you lovely ladies :) there are many fakes around claiming they are authentic bags from factory which is pretty scary. Most of the bags are pre order so we are unable to obtain more pictures.

I am particulary interested in Coach Mini Charlie Backpack in brown signature. I just found out that coach made 2 versions of it with diff leather trim. F38302 - pebbled leather trim
F58315 - smooth leather trim
Would like to know why there is 2 versions of it :)

I don't know why there are 2 versions of it, you would have to ask Coach and they never answer questions like that.

The 2 numbers are different because the leather trim is different, if that's what you're thinking. When a trim or construction detail is changed the item usually gets a new style number. And you can NEVER assume that all Coach items with the same name are supposed to have the same details, Coach re-uses names over and over and often 2 different styles with the same name don't look anything alike. That's why we always remind everyone to only compare 2 examples of the same item if they have exactly the same style number. No other comparisons are valid.

I don't usually get involved with newer bags, and there are only a few bags on Ebay in that style for comparison., None of them have pictures of the white tag so there's no way to tell if there's a problem with it. The two tags you're comparing were made in 2 different plants so it's very possible that there would be differences between them. The tags are probably printed in the same plant where the bags are made.. That's not enough to say if one isn't authentic. I'm sorry that I can't be more helpful.

If we're still talking about the black Duffle Sac, it couldn't be older than 1994 since it has the "variations:" creed rather than the "Scars, scratches" creed. The wording was changed at the same time or sometimes even months after the new serial format came into use in 1994-95, and it varied with the plant. The serial numbers were often changed before the new re-worded creed stamp was put into use. But there's no way it's from the 1980s.

ETA - what little I can see of the serial font looks authentic.

I know how much you expert authenticators hate fakes (me too!) so I thought that you might be interested in this discussion in the General Shopping forum. I tried to speak up about fakes and I was censored!

https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/i-spoke-up-against-fakes-and-got-shot-down.979626/

It almost sounded at first as if you were censored on one of the tPF forums, I'm glad it was somewhere else.

You can't force the truth on people who don't want to hear it.
