I'm interested in opinions on this bag. Was the style even out in 1994?

The creed has me concerned:

__57.jpg

I prepared some side-by-side comps and would like other opinions. (I do have my own opinion!)

Fake fake fake.

No, it was NOT out in 1994. It didn't come out until almost 10 years later, Fall of 2003. The Coach logo on the creed is wrong - the letters don't widen out where they're supposed to, the creed stitching isn't right, the strap buckles are made wrong, the entire creed looks burned into the leather and shouldn't be,

The only probably valid H4F- prefix I've ever found was in a style 5356 Candidate Brief which used the same caviar-type leather as the Madisons and came out at the same time. It uses a Times New Roman-type font for the serial number, and it's so completely weird that it has to be genuine, it has the right creed statement for the Madison leather, and the briefcase looks right too. See below.

Thank you for confirming. I was sure it was fake when I posted but after finding the other H4F bag, it further confirmed my "opinion."

ETA: Feel free to save my pictures for your records. This is a scary one!

Hi everyone!
Sorry if I'm not in the right thread, but I'm new in the Coach section ;)
I'm volunteering in a thrift store, and we just got this Coach purse. It's in a perfect condition, no sign of use.
Does it seem real? Do you think I should get it at that price?
I can take more pics if needed.

Thanks in advance!

We always need to see a clear readable photo of the creed stamp or patch inside the bag including the serial number. Nothing can be authenticated without that. See the first post in this thread for more details. There don't seem to be any obvious problems but it's always best to be sure.

We also aren't supposed to comment on price, but you can check Ebay to see what other bags in the same style sold for if there were any listed recently.

Without seeing more pictures, I can't state definitively about the bag behind the one in question but so far, I'm not liking what I can see.

I'm curious. Is your thrift shop one that is willing to comply with federal trademark law that makes it illegal to sell counterfeit items PERIOD? Too many thrifts think that if they don't advertise as authentic or if they have authenticity disclaimers, it's okay to sell.

X plant code. Creed says: this is a coach product...custom developed materials... Would this bag be a fake?

And if you search the Hall Of Shame from a few days ago, that bag was discussed, posts 1989 and 1994 . I don't think we can assume it's fake, see my comments. I wouldn't recommend buying it for resale but it may actually be genuine.

Did Coach ever make a bag that looks like this? I found one at a pawn shop, Everything feels & looks nice but there's no way to put it on here. The on the bottom is in a different place but other than that it looks like this. There's a creed patch but no number on it so it's really hard to find anything about it. There's an auction on ebay that looks the same but it's in white, this one is in punch like the picture. I know it's not much to go on, just hoping someone will know if it was ever even made, if not then it sure make it an obvious fake. The one on Ebay is http://www.ebay.com/itm/261722930036?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT# is there not an item # listed on them anymore, I'm not spotting it.

Thanks for any advice, I greatly appreciate it!!

Is there a place to see all bags Coach ever made? I used to get catalogs but haven't gotten one in quite awhile now.

Your picture is Coach's stock photo of style 40450 and yes, they did make it.

It's also a style that has been faked, though the fakes I've seen are pretty obvious. (The listing you showed looks good.)

If you buy it, post the pictures here.

I found another old listing for the same style bag with the same serial number. Although most of the pictures aren't viewable, the 2 of them are. The creed is a bit blurry but somewhat legible.

(I'm not sure whether this helps in authenticating or not. Just posting FWIW.)

I don't know whether it's lighting or not but do the feet look silver?

It's the shop of my kids' school. Of course we do not want to sell counterfeit!! but usually, when you get things from donation, you don't assume it's a fake (what would be the point of donate a fake???).

I took 2 more pictures, one of the back of the bag, and one of the tag. (I don't have wifi here, so it's pretty slow to upload)

The bag looks authentic.

People donate fakes all the time. Some of them may not know they are donating fakes. Others don't see anything wrong with it.

Thanks. The strange wording did seem familiar. My bad for not checking more carefully and wasting your time for this. Sorry. I have been searching with item number, but did not for this one. I do not usually search the Hall of shame. Just read it occasionally which is probably why it seemed familiar. Will add hall of shame to my searches.

My sister, who lives in another state, is searching for vintage bags for me. She sent me several bags. I am posting two today.

Please authenticate. First one, Station Bag (I hope!!) I own.

The straps are attached the same as the other authenticated bags I own in this style.
