Hi! I found this at Goodwill. I'm a little puzzled by it as it's a color I've never come accross in a vintage bag. It's a beige tone with a lot of pale pink in it. It's a bucket buckle bag. LOL

I'm seeing some variations in the color especially in the third photo which makes me think it may have been re-dyed, maybe from a White or Bone color. That pink color has NEVER been used for any early 1990s Soho or Lightweight bag. It's also surprising to find industrial-style zippers in a Soho/Lightweight style. Maybe Whateve has noticed others? There may have been other changes to the bag along the way too, the inside pocket zipper seems a bit wavy.

It looks like a 4027 Monterey Hobo. Both White and Bone are listed as color choices in the Spring and Summer 1991 catalogs, but NO pastel pinks.

Other opinions are definitely welcome.

That is really interesting! I just gave it a very close look, turned it inside out, looking for signs of undyed sections and I can't find any at all. Every piece of leather is uniform in color inside it. I do see it has an outlet stamp. Maybe it was made in a wrong color by accident? Someone dropped a little red in the bone dye pot ;) I think I would call this color "shell" or something like that..

It looks like the same hardware as on this one on poshmark.

I'm not seeing any rough stitching or faults around the zippers. It's probably my poor photography skills that made it look wavy. Looks well stitched to my eye.

Thanks!

I've seen those types of zippers in many Lightweights. I believe they used a different brand of zippers for awhile in these styles, because I've had lots of trouble with them, only in Lightweights from this era, not regular classic styles from the same era. I don't think they switched to nylon zippers in Lightweights/Soho until a little later.

I've also seen a lot of problems with the dyes that were used on Lightweights. They faded horribly so it is possible that this one just faded to pink, no matter what the original color was.

So do you ladies see any reason to suspect it isn't genuine? If it's okay I will go ahead and give her a bath and see what color she turns out to be after that and some conditioner.

I know what you mean about the dyes fading on the lightweights leather. I have a bag in red that has unevenly faded to orange in parts.

I have no doubt, it is authentic.

I picked this piece up at Goodwill & have never seen anything like it. I'm not even sure it's real. Any ideas or information?

I found this at a thrift shop but I haven't been able to find it online. Thoughts on authenticity?
