This is my #9170 made in NYC. There are two splices on the strap, one at the end by the grommets and one near the center.
Love these bags. I have one, my leather overlaps at the bottom center and the strap near the buckle. But my creed is a bit different so now I'm worried its fake. Any ideas anyone? Thanks, I love her no matter what any way.20171123_125441.jpg 20180105_163342.jpg

It's got some problems with the creed number. I've never seen an error like this from what I suppose is the B plant. I'd like more opinions, and I'd like to see other details of the bag, like the ends of the zipper, the zipper pull, the buckles, the buckle attachment hardware, the front under the flap.

ok some other pictures. It does have the angle of depth same as other posts. And you can or should be able to see the zipper end and pull in the second picture

Also if more pics are needed I will have to take them. I tried to upload my larger pics but wouldnt take em. so I resized.

The pics are too small now, at least for me. How small did you make them? And what size were the original photos?

There shouldn't be any problem with pictures of a reasonable size, say 800x600 or a bit larger. I've posted pics up to around 1200 pixels wide with no problems. And the photo posting forum software, at least with my computer and any of the major browsers, allows you to select posting overly large photos as thumbnails.

I'll wait for the rest of the resized photos, but the font used for the serial number matches what I have on file for 1996 and also for several years after.

Here's an example:

ok thanks Hyacinth. I'll re size tomorrow and post. The first ones I posted were the same size so couldn'tfigure out why I got the pop up for them being too big. Also, the issue with the number could be the 6B6? I don't know. That's the only thing I could figure?QUOTE="Hyacinth, post: 31942130, member: 13992"]I'll wait for the rest of the resized photos, but the font used for the serial number matches what I have on file for 1996 and also for several years after.[/QUOTE]

Exactly. The correct format for serial numbers from 1994 to around 2005 (after 2005 things get even more complicated) should be LETTER (month code) - NUMBER (year code, 1 or 2 numbers) - LETTER or rarely a NUMBER depending on the plant (plant code). The B plant in 1996 would have a serial prefix in the format Letter-Number-Letter IF it was set correctly, but we've seen other plants made similar mistakes during that transition period, especially several non-USA plants. None of us have seen this exact kind of formatting mistake before.

Creeds and serial numbers are covered in two of the Salearea Coach Guides.

Count me as another who has never seen that type of mistake.

I thought of the possibility that perhaps the prefix was supposed to be B6B instead of 6B6 but if that were the case, we should (probably) have been able to find other 6B6 creeds.

Instead, I found a B6B creed that also matches in font and text.
