IMPORTANT READ-ME

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

Thank you! I've searched the zippered pocket, turned it upside down, but there was no label. Is there any exception some bags have no serial number? My other bags all have serial numbers, whether on the creed or on the label inside the zippered pocket
Coach makes changes all the time. For a quite a while, many smaller items (of which yours is one style) such as swingpacks, pouches, wristlets, etc. may or may not have had creeds. Those with creeds may or may not have serial numbers.

Then in 2014, they made more changes, eliminating serial numbers from creeds and putting them on a white label that would often be hidden (read as: buried!) deep inside a impossible-to-get-at location.

During that timeframe, even some items without creeds had the tags with production information.

For authentications, all details of the item are taken into account. No one hallmark, marking or feature proves authenticity on its own.

And further, when comparing an item to another, comparisons must be apples to apples. Even comparing the same STYLE numbered bags can be inaccurate if the bags were from different years and/or plants.

The change BeenBurned mentioned in 2014 that eliminated stamped serial numbers and replaced them with the tiny tag inside the pocket took place around the middle of 2014. I believe this style, or at least the number in Coach's style number sequence, is from early 2014, probably just a short time before the change was made. At that time almost all the bags listed as crossbodies, along with other small "accessory" bags like Swingpacks, were considered too small to require stamped serial numbers. Some had numbers, some had only a creed patch, and many had neither. I believe this is a pre- "Stupid Dumb-Arse-Move-By-Coach" bag from before the stamped serial numbers were eliminated but it probably wouldn't have had one even if the stupid change to the creed stamps had never taken place.

And I agree that the bag is genuine.

I think I need an intervention to delete my poshmark app. I keep finding some really fun things that I don't necessarily need but that I really want. Someone tell me this is not authentic and save me from myself! https://poshmark.com/listing/Little-Coach-Bag-Perfect-for-young-girl-59dc492141b4e0141f00d755
It's really tiny! And it's "not Authentic" (I don't really know, looks like an outlet item but you wanted someone to tell you it's not so just following your direction [emoji23]) And you don't need it. I have been addicted to PM since I joined and have been an addict ever since. The only way to prevent finding things is to stop looking.
I have been focusing on getting all the bags out so I have been looking less. Even when I do look, I'm like oh I already have it. [emoji23] I still do get very tempted, even after having trouble getting refunded from PM for buying fake bags. Not once but twice! Still the opportunity to buy a good enough condition bag and rehab it for less than $20 is hard to turn down. You should come join us in the ban thread! [emoji12]

There's a ban thread?! I'll see you there! Thank you!

PS
I've asked for a picture of a creed if there is one but am wondering if this could be newer with only the cloth tag inside.
I don't see any problems but there should be a picture of the lining and the tag inside if there is one. It is a recent made for factory item. It's a wristlet. They made a bag that is similar.

Don't post confusing information, like claiming an item isn't authentic when it is. This is an authenticate thread and you could ruin a seller's reputation.

Oops, sorry. I should've sent my joke in private. Apologies.

Thank you very much for your explanation!

That could work to your benefit too.

If you lose the case through Poshmark, you can open a SNAD case through Paypal. But don't do anything until PM comes to a decision. You can't have 2 cases open at once.

And.....Whateve beat me!
Soooooooooo......another update of the counterfeit bag from andine. I jjust st received an email from customer service stating the following - maybe there is hope yet? Did the other buyer who lost the case send the bag to customer service?

Thank you for sending us your photos. We understand your frustration and want to provide you with the assistance that you need. We'd like to investigate this case further. Attached to this email please find a shipping label to send to the item to our office, where we can further investigate in person. We have a team of specialists handling these types of cases. If the item is not authentic, we will return it to the seller and process a full refund back to your original method of payment. Thank you,

I don't want to out the other victim of Poshmark's lack of expertise but if she wants to add her opinion, she's welcome to do so.
Poshmark's authentication team is so inept that even when another buyer sent a fake (also with an invalid serial number TO POSHMARK, they (their authenticators) still deemed the bag as authentic but as a "goodwill gesture," accepted the return for refund.

I can't feel confident that they'll come up with an accurate determination.
