Dear authenticators, [emoji2]

I have not been active on tpf for a number of months (life reasons), but I used to be quite active, so hopefully I may ask for an authentication?

We found the below bag at a vintage mall. *If* it's real, it would have to be "before-the-creeds", which is certainly beyond my knowledge. It has no creed, but does have the cartouche. The font seemed ok, and the Talon zipper matches an early NYC bag I have, but ... I definitely need it checked. It's in disturbingly good condition, which somehow makes me trust it even less, LoL. Too good to be true? Actually, my first reaction was: A watermelon tote? Here? At that price? Can't be. And like I said, before-the-creed is way beyond my league.

If it's fake ... eh ... the leather is in wonderful shape and it cost all of $5, so I'll cut it up for other projects.

Zipper is Talon, hangtag is missing (did they have hangtags in the before-the-creed years?), and the dimensions of the bag (minus handle) are 9 x 13-1/2 x 2-3/4. Oh, and I just realized I forgot to take a pic of it, but the side of the kisslock hinge has a "B" on it. I can take that pic too, if needed.
Help? Please?
(sorry for duplicate pics below ... I haven't posted any pics like this since the board format changed).

I hope that no one will be offended if I offer an opinion, but pre-greed is an area that I do have some expertise...

Don't cut it up! Everything shown and described (down to the glued together zipper tab) matches the two authentic, pre-creed #9441 Watermelon Totes I have on hand. Congratulations on stumbling upon a true bargain find. Enjoy.

Hoping this multi-quote works. The format has changed since I last posted.

YAYYYY!!!!! Thank you both!!!!!
I'm actually kind of stunned ... I wasn't even looking for bags. We (family) were just bumming around one of those ubiquitous antique malls, and there it was. The same stall also had a lightly dirty, signature fabric, made-for-factory Zoe from some years back for $40. I looked at this $5 tag on *this* one at least three times, convinced that I just *had* to be reading it wrong ... was there a missing "0" that my eyes were glossing over? Then I thought, "Well it has to be fake, and they know it, hence the tag."
It's in a safe home. All it needs is a wash and condition, I'll grab a vintage hangtag from ebay, and it'll get out and about just like my other vintage Coaches. :)

(Actually ... maybe it's the universe trying to be nice to me? We lost a beloved, 19yr old parrot to cancer only a couple weeks ago; tomorrow is 27th anniversary of hubby and my first date, and Wednesday is 19th wedding anniversary. Maybe the universe is showing me some mercy? I best not look the gift-purse in the mouth.)

Thank you both again!!!!

So sorry about your parrot. I'm glad you found such a great bargain. I had a similar experience in an antique mall. The seller had signature MFF locked up in a glass case with high prices, while the Bonnie Cashin hung on a hook on the wall for $20.

I had a similar experience at a consignment store with a NYC slim satchel. It appeared unused and was marked $5. I grabbed it!

Ladies, I am seriously annoyed and while I know this is not an EBay advice thread I want to come to you, my *purse Moms* lol for a reality check. @BeenBurned kindly authenticated this 9302 Bleeker for me the other day while awaiting delivery. It was delivered late yest and had been crammed into the box and came out of it as shown in the pic. It did not look like this in the sellers listing. I have not asked a seller for specifics about how it would be packaged and obviously did not here.
I can appreciate the bottom section could have been a straight forward fold over. It would have been snug, a little squashed in that box. But he just crammed in there. Ugh men. I used to find in charming that men sold bags, but no more. Okay, man rant portion done, thanks.
I am so irritated I could just slam him on feedback. But the reality is that it not expensive and still rehabable (sp?). And I know feedback to sellers is important. Do I contact him and make him say I'm sorry (yeah, feeling very junior high here) and make him promise never do this again? Do I leave less than 5 star feedback and email him why? I was almost ready last night to ask if I had grounds to refuse this purchase and make him take it back, but the truth is I want to rehab this bag. Thanks for listening, any feedback/reality check appreciated. You authenticators and fellow Coach luvers rock.

I recently bought a Borough that the seller failed to mention had tears in the lining and a moth ball smell. Send him a private mention, refrain from feedback and call it good I say. So much of this is in the eye of the beholder. My seller claimed she did not notice, which I doubt but whatever.

Your seller has received 2 very recent neutral ratings because of poor packaging. Not a quick learner! Perhaps another neutral would sink in the message.

First off, let me say that as a seller, I'm not a fan of unnecessarily dinging a seller's feedback. Unfortunately, ebay puts a lot more emphasis on feedback than there should be and sellers need all the help they can get.

That said, sometimes a seller needs a wakeup call.

Before finishing reading and before seeing @Ebkbay's comment, I would have suggested contacting the seller and depending on his response, feedback might or might not be ding-worthy.

However, seeing that the seller clearly has been made aware (by other buyers) that packaging and care are desirable, he hasn't learned a thing.

I would contact him to let him know WHY you are dinging the feedback with a neutral and let him know that the next buyer may not be so generous and will neg him.

Ugh!

And even though I do not sell (yet) on EBay, I read here from my fellow rehabbers about the trials and tribulations they go through with buyers and I really don't want to screw with anyone's feedback without cause. Yet I don't believe I need to reward sloppy selling practices either.
Thanks BeenBurned and to all who responded.
