For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:

    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock

  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

Opps! The handle on the right on top should have been sewn with the egde of the leather facing in toward the ther handle. The result is the handle is twisted!View attachment 3742915 View attachment 3742916

You can fix that by removing the square ring, turning the strap around, and re-installing it. There is a break in the long side of the ring that you can see if you pull the leather around to one side. You'll need pliers to pry it apart.

I don't know if the shiny stuff will wash off, but it might. You might try posting this on the rehab and rescue thread.

It's helpful if you can provide a link to the online listing when requesting authentication:

And yet again, ebay f-s up and removes another authentic item. Yet, I've been reporting a POS from Goodwill that is still up (and has sold).

While I realize that you've closed your account (and I don't blame you for being pissed), I'm curious about a few things.
1. What exactly did the takedown notice say?
2. How many pictures were in the listing?
3. How detailed was your description?
4. Did you imply in any way that you weren't sure of authenticity? Could that have been interpreted as an authenticity disclaimer?

There is an appeals process and it's very possible you may not even have to invest in a professional authentication. I do get that a $7.50 investment in an authentication isn't cost effective for a bag that might sell for <$20.

Sheesh, Ebay! Get it right for a change!

Those are good questions. Here was the takedown notice:
IMG_1498355761.144905.jpgIMG_1498355771.871642.jpg
I had 12 pictures. The ones I already posted here and then a few more showing some extreme wear more closely I.e. Where the straps attached to the rings and where leather was cracked at the top of the flap where it bends.

To my mind the description was thorough. I said that the leather was in fair condition, structurally sound but "distressed" and that the interior was pristine. No smells etc. I don't believe I implied inauthenticity, merely stated its condition. I said that the hardware was great. Due to the condition I started the bidding at $10.

Oh well, I'm going to put it away for a while and not think about it. It's not worth it anymore. Maybe I'll open an account again later but I needed to take an eBay break anyway after the coach summer sale [emoji51][emoji56].

So far as a relatively inexperienced seller I had great experience with eBay and I know I would be happy if I were the one who received an inauthentic item and eBay took my side. I just found my experiences with their customer service to be really irritating, and as a seller I had tried to do everything right.

Ps-I scribbled out the listing number above - not sure I needed to since my account is on its way toward deactivation (may already be gone) and the listing was removed, but just in case it was against any forum rules.

When you're accused (whether by a buyer or by ebay) of listing a fake, you are allowed to post your listing. However since the listing was removed, the link itself wouldn't help.

That said, it sounds as though your inexperience and lack of history were the "red flags" ebay saw and decided to "protect" its members. (I'm being sarcastic. It's a joke because there are high volume sellers with thousands of sales and thousands of feedbacks who list lots of fakes.)

If you don't mind PM'ing me with your seller ID and the item number of the listing, I'd like to contact someone about it. For the last month of so, there have been an increase in the number of authentic listings that were removed. Supposedly, there is someone (or someones - plural) who are looking at what's going on.

Again, I'm sorry you have to deal with this nonsense.

ETA: It doesn't sound like your takedown notice prohibits you from relisting but since your pictures and description sound as though they were as thorough as they could have been, I'm not sure what would keep them from removing it again.

Thanks, I will PM you. About your ETA though, the listings dept told me verbally at least twice not to relist it.

Both are authentic.

ETA: It's an interesting seller. She must find styles she likes and buy them in every color! None of her listings are a onesie!
Thank you! It struck me as interesting/strange too. The seller must be divesting their collection - all the multiple seem to be in actual excellent condition. They seem untouched. Or just very well taken care of.

They all look genuine. Other than the seller calling a few of them "vintage" that aren't the full 20 years old yet, and not showing enough photos of the bags to give any idea of the bags' condition, I don't see any problems. If there was one I was interested in I'd definitely ask for more photos of the inside and the high-wear areas in the corners.
Thank you - that is very good advice. It was the lack of closeups that gave me pause.

Thanks so much, Catbird! It seems obvious now, but yes, prying apart the ring and turning the piece never occurred to me.

@Catbird9 P. S. Lite tote lol. So of course I just responded to your kind authentication and suggestion. Sitting here with coffee so of course I am looking at the ring attaching the handle. It turns out there is already enough of a gap for me to work off the strap and turn it! Wa laa! Will grab a pliers later and give it a little squeeze. While this is by no means a Macguyver move, why do I feel like it is ?

Is this coach city bag a fraud. I want to buy it and the seller emailed me inner tag (creed number?) which had the text: L4M-9790. It's on etsy and the seller wrote the bag is made in usa. what do you guys think? I've never seen that kind of creed number on a coach city bag.

Bags can't be authenticated with just a serial number (unless it's an invalid serial) so we need to see pictures of the bag and creed.

See post #1 (first in this thread on page 1) for the posting format and info we need.

I am looking to buy a vintage black Coach Station bag. I've been very interested in getting a vintage Coach bag for a long time now and want to do it right. I am looking at a few listings on ebay and etsy that are $80-100, would you guys say it's appropriate for something that is relatively in good condition?

In addition to seeing which bag is authentic, I also have a bad eye for quality, so any insight would be great.

Item: Coach Station Bag
Seller: kcdesignerdepot
Link: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/NICE-EUC-COA...717952?hash=item1c88b61280:g:b~kAAOSw9~5ZRUsh

Item: Coach Station Bag
Seller: kimthom48
Link: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Vintage-Coac...520642?hash=item3619b4e982:g:6H0AAOSwX61ZC-ku

It looks like it is a popular bag and I hope at least one of these are authentic. Thank you for taking the time and looking at these.

Edit: I edited this post to narrow it down to two links and also changed the format to fit the 1st post better.

#1 looks good (seller kcdesignerdepot)

#2 - wait for Hyacinth. (seller kimthom48) - The "o" in No. looks too oval to me and the space between No and the serial number looks a bit too small to me. It could be the angle but I think another opinion is needed.

Of the other 2 you posted and redacted, the one from julischeppac_0 needs a clearer creed picture. It can't be authenticated as is.

The one from elliebata is authentic.

Thanks for your quick reply. Yes, I took out the julischeppac_0 because I realized the creed picture was blurry. Thanks for helping me check the other ones as well!
