If I wanted to sell, what would be an appropriate price?

What would be the appropriate price if I wanted to sell it?
There are several reasons why we can't advise on price.

Depending on demand for the style, condition of the bag as well as other listings for the same item, and timing of the right listing attracting the right buyer, prices can vary widely.

My suggestion is to do a search of current and completed listings for the same style and see what other sellers are asking and what the ones that sold sold for. Search "coach 7713"

Genuine, probably a Soho/Lighweights Delancey Drawstring if it measures about 10 inches long by 12 inches high. In the future, please be sure to provide measurements for classic and vintage bags that don't include letters of the alphabet in the serial number.

Style 4122, early 1990s

Thank you so much, Hyacinth. I didn't know about posting measurements, I'll make sure to do that in the future. But yes, it is 12 inches by about 9 1/2. I'm so happy to add this to my growing collection. Thank you again!

Comments: This ident number does not appear the H-plant stamping peculiarities that have been noted in prior queries. (Though the "H" does look slightly oversized, so does the "J." Also the "-," the "No," and the offset down creed don't look quite right.)

As always, TIA for your expert input and commentary.

Fake. The strap grommets are silver-color, the ends of the seam binding around the base are sewn together in the wrong spot (and pretty poorly too), and all J8H- serial prefixes have proven so far to be fake because the H code that year was apparently only used by what little remained of the original NYC production area for samples and for making styles that the other factories couldn't manage to fit into their schedules (most of which seem to have been Station Bags), and then only at the beginning of the year 1998.

Here's another example of a fake with that exact serial font (all the J8H- prefixes seem to have exactly the same font), and a surprising number of the J8H- fakes had incorrect style numbers. The H8H- prefix serials are also fake. I also have several photos of obviously fake J8H- prefix bags in styles that wouldn't even be introduced by Coach until 2 or 3 years AFTER that September 1998 date code. .EVERY J8H- and H8H- serial should be considered fake, just like J8Y- serials and J8P- serials with "Made in the United States" creeds. The J month code seems to have been a special favorite with the counterfeiters and extra care should be taken with bags in styles mostly from the mid to late 1990s that use a J month code.

This one is trying to be a 9804 Equestrian Drawstring but with a too-long strap and the style number of a Sling Bag 9929 from around 1993:

You are absolutely correct. Report away!

Thank you both for the confirm about both this specific item and all J8H identified bags in general.

Comments: Is it really from the 70's and I believe its a Basic bag? Would you guys purchase from someone with 0 feedback, but everyone has to start somewhere. Thank you in advance!

It's NOT from the 1970s. The "Made in U.S.A." stamp at the bottom of the creed means ihat it's from between 1988 and 1990 or 1992 at the very latest. It's a genuine Basic Bag.

Please notice under "Return Policy" that the seller doesn't accept returns.

In answer to your question about buying from a 0-feedback new seller, as long as the listing has pictures of her own item in her possession and the item has been deemed authentic, I don't see a problem. It's new sellers with lots of high end items at too-good-to-be-true prices that raise red flags.

The seller's no-return policy is irrelevant if an item isn't "as described." That would mean if it were fake or the condition differed from the description. (While the seller's estimate of age is off, IMO, that's not a huge problem. Many sellers don't know the ages of their items and either estimate or exaggerate it.)

I seem to recall that an "X" in the ident number can be legit if it's in the proper location. I'm assuming that this may not be the case here...

Comments: An "X" in the month position?
Please remind me when and where an "X" may be plausible (intended Discount store and before the style number?)

As always, TIA for your expert input and commentary.
