IMPORTANT READ-ME

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

Please read and follow the directions in post number One for the information we REQUIRE for authentications:

  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:

    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller:

    Comments:

  • If the bag in question is not on an auction site, please use the following:

Item Name (if you know it):
    Link (if available):
Then attach any photos (all authentication must include photos.)
    • Please be sure to include a clear readable photo of the creed stamp and serial number from inside the bag or accessory if there is one, and the bag's measurements when the bag is an older or vintage leather Coach.
    • Since mid-2014, Coach stopped putting serial numbers on creeds so in newer bags where the creeds don't have serial numbers, we also need to see pictures of the labels/tags from inside the bag. They are either both in the main open part sewn into the seam of the lining, or one might be buried deep inside the zipper pocket. One shows where made and the other has a serial number.
  • Authenticators are not required to answer every request and it is their right to ignore a request that is not in the proper format.

It looks ok but I don't know the name. it was made for the Factory (outlet) Store.

Hello kind authenticators, if you could let me know..... TIA
Item: Coach signature stripe medium wallet?
Size: About 4.75 x 4 x 1 inches
Comments: Bought at garage sale, looks good to me but I searched on Ebay and Goggle and couldn't find any exactly the same, the ones I found have the Coach medallion on the tab.

There have been horror stories going the other way; buyer receiving a fake, verifying it here, filing a legitimate claim, PM ruling against the buyer, buyer SENDING fake Coach bag in to PM for their "expert" authenticators to examine who deemed a 100% fake bag as authentic!

(The debacle is documented here in AT Coach after it happened to @houseof999 and @houseofcoach999. If she sees this post, she might chime in to confirm.)
I'm trying to direct the buyer here but not sure if she will come. She is still claiming it's fake.
She told me that she asked a Coach store for advice on how to tell a fake and also looked on wikihow.com
Says that there should be a letter in the last few digits.

I'm not sure what else to do?
I have told her to come here in every response and post her own questions and concerns and someone here can help her!

I think it's fine. Other opinions are welcome.

If your buyer isn't willing to come here to get help, she doesn't really want to learn.
1. Asking at Coach for advice on how to recognize a fake Coach is a joke. They aren't trained to authenticate, are actually prohibited by company policy from authenticating and in many cases, the young SAs weren't even born when many items were made!
2. Using wikihow or other various online resources for getting answers on authenticity can be dangerous. There's more misinformation on the internet than accurate info.
3. Regarding her idea that "there should be a letter in the last few digits," there are several possibilities about which she's thinking but none are "always-never" possibilities. (The following possibilities assume authenticity. Keep in mind that counterfeiters can and will fake anything.)
  • There might be an "F" at the beginning of the style number if the item is a MFF (made for factory) item
  • There might be a "P" at the end of the style number if the item was made as a pilot (prototype) item
  • There might be an "M" or "E" (or another letter) at the end of the style number if an item was made as an exclusive item to be sold at a specific department store.
  • There might be a "Z" at the end of the style number if an item is made and intended to be sold at a discounter (Marshalls, Nordstrom Rack, etc.)
  • There are a few style numbers from about 10-ish years ago with letters as part of the style numbers, i.e., 8F69, 1K11
But there are no "rules" that there should be a letter in the "last few digits."

Please authenticate at your convenience . I am not interested in buying, but see the J8D prefix , which does not match what I found in a search of your posts. While buyers need to educate themselves, if this is a fake, so do sellers. Yeah, the buckshot is a whole different story. Let's see if my copy paste of the link works.

Thank you BeenBurned I appreciate your reassurance. If someone has an idea of what style is please let me know, just a bit confused here. Thought of older style but the textured leather inside seems to be used in the newer ones, then the new ones have that medallion on the tab... :confused1:
(If not OK to ask here, I will move it to another section, no problem)

Fake. The serial font is completely wrong for the D plant, and the binding or edging around the base isn't sewn correctly. The strap grommets are silver but the buckles are brass-colored.

Thank you for confirming what a ten minute search showed me. The nickel brass combo first caught my eye. So how does one report fakes on eBay ? It really burns my toast that there is a $100 BIN on something they either knew could be fake or could not be bothered to research.

Hello everyone,
I picked up a couple of bags at the flea market and I was hoping that you kind people could tell me whether they're genuine. Both bags are in my possession.

The first one is a Janice Legacy (from 2006?), and it measures approximately 9" wide by about 9" tall to the hardware or around 7" at the low point of the curve, and 4" deep and the strap is 47.5" total.

The second one, I don't know the style name. It's a little bag, only 7" wide by 6" tall by 2" deep, and the strap is about 50" long.

Please verify authenticity before I place a bid on these bags. Thank you always!
