Could you please authenticate this bag? The hang tag is made up of the bag's exterior leather on one side and the interior leather (suede) on the other side. Did Coach ever make them this way? Or perhaps the other side of the tag was glued on and came off? Also, if you could give me a ballpark estimate of when it was made, I would appreciate it. Thank you!

Item: Penny Bag
Measurements: 10" x 6" x 2.5" with a 16.5" strap drop

Item: Weston (fake?)
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/122399760256
Seller: xemy0yx2k8
Comment: looks fake to me and it's missing dowels.

One look at the inside pocket zipper tells the story. It doesn't go all the way to the edges of the pocket, and that screams FAKE. I can't read the entire serial number but the first digit in the style number looks like a 4 which doesn't match any of the dowel bag styles. The serial font is much too thick and the missing dowels would be a total turnoff, they probably broke or warped and the owner removed them.

Avoid this one like the Plague. And have any "Coaches" from xem0yx2k8 authenticated here before buying.

It's an authentic pocket purse #9755, not penny. Hangtags at that time were one sided. It's probably from the early to mid 80s.

Genuine but I think it's a Pocket Purse, not a Penny.

Ah I knew it! Thanks for the confirmation! Sadly people are bidding on this even though it looks like crap.

I wonder if that's why xem0yx2k8 ended her first listing (with an opening bid price of $100) early:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Authentic-V...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

and then relisted with a creed picture at a different angle and a $.99 starting price....... (listing now removed)

Things that make you go, "hmmmmm."

Well, the latest listing has been yanked too, so if she relists AGAIN she's going to end up in trouble with Ebay. Some people never learn.

Thank you so much, Whateve! Interesting to learn about the single-sided hang tag and to know approximately when it was made. I wasn't sure when the New York factory stopped making purses and was wondering if it could be from the 70's!
