Thanks BeenBurned! Any input on the names and style numbers on numbers 2 and 4?
2 is a basic bag #9455.
4 is standard tote #9680.

Hi dear,
Thanks for that. U made my day! Is this bag made up from leather? As it feels plastic aka pu leather. TIA

The creed says it is made from genuine leather. However, it seems that even bonded leather can legally be labelled genuine leather.

In my opinion, having worked with vintage Coach bags made of full-grain cowhide, most of today's styles are not what I consider genuine leather, even though they are labelled as such.

It isn't bonded leather. I don't think Coach has ever used bonded leather. It is cross-grain, sort of like a flimsier, less luxe, version of saffiano leather. I'm not a fan of it myself but it sells well and it holds up great. This is a factory store purse, not one from the full price boutique.

I have to disagree with the statement that "most of today's styles are not what I consider genuine leather" as the current boutique is full of glove tanned leather bags, many of which are lined in leather or suede.

"Classic" and "vintage" to us Old Bags mean NOT made in China or the Far East.
Hey wait a minute, who's calling who an old bag?
Can you believe it, I just caught that? Might be getting really pathetic (don't you dare!)

P.S. If there are as many "vintage Coach bag made in the 80's" as there claimed to be in Etsy, then the whole world was doing nothing else but making Coach bags in that decade:rolleyes:

The link for the first one is invalid - this should be the right one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-WILLI...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
It looks genuine, from 1994

The second is very probably genuine but I'd like to see a better and clearer photo of the creed to be sure. The strap is a replacement, not the original adjustable one that came with the bag.

The third seems ok but they did a very bad job of matching the skins on the inside. I;m not sure what problem you're seeing with the strap.

P.S. If there are as many "vintage Coach bag made in the 80's" as there claimed to be in Etsy, then the whole world was doing nothing else but making Coach bags in that decade:rolleyes:

1- genuine Legacy Small Shopper from 1998

2- ok, early 1990s

3- genuine, mid 1980s

4- genuine, late '70s or early '80s

As for Etsy, their rules state, or used to state, that only vintage bags at least 20 years old could be sold on the site. So a lot of buyers would say their items were from the 1980s even when they knew they weren't. There are also several widely-read so-called "guides" that give completely incorrect information on how to date a Coach bag. Always assume that any date in any Coach listing has a pretty good chance of being wrong, and ask here for a more accurate estimate if dates are important to you. We usually catch some of the really blatant mistakes, but not always.

One good thing about being an Old Bag is that I'm allowed to call anyone any name I like. It's stamped right on the bottom of all my Social Security checks.
