Item: coach vintage turn lock clutch
link: Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/252755602085
Seller: I've not seen this before. Back of the oval piece looks fake on my phone.

Wait for other opinions on this item and seller.

PLEASE be sure to include the information required by POST #1 including seller ID!!

Seller beautifulthings78-us

The listing in question definitely has grooves on the back of the female part of the turnlock. Wait for other opinions on it.

The item didn't get removed and the auction ended at $86!!!
I hadn't reported because I wasn't positive that it was fake. That's why I suggested waiting for other opinions.

I'll report and cross my fingers that the buyer didn't pay yet.

Other than the back of the turnlock, what else indicates the clutch is fake? I'm not counting the hangtag because that was probably added later. The Coach stamp on the front is iffy but the picture angle isn't the best. The detail of the ticking stripe seems to match another photo in my files of a genuine item, but that's the only turnlock clutch pic I seem to have.

If the turnlock was ever replaced with a non-Coach piece, many of them have indentations on the back. We can't use only the turnlock to prove something's counterfeit.

ETA - I found a few more photos of the 7171 Turnlock Case from 1995-96 in my files, one with the Coach stamp just like on the one being questioned and the other with the stamp under and hidden by the flap. All 3 have the same lining and inside pocket zipper pull.

There's another thread for identification. Titled simply ID this Coach. [emoji14] Give me that red bag! I've been looking for it! It's a Spectator.

You also need to give measurements of the bag.

I did not mean to attach my request to another post. How can I disable the automatic quote? Please let me know. Thank you.
This was your post:
I bought this late last year on eBay. Would you kindly authenticate.
Coach black leather metropolitan briefcase
Item # 15234480948
Seller: casi1001
http://www.ebay.com/itm/152344080948?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

The bag is fake. Although the creed is illegible, her description describes the serial number as an invalid one, always fake:
D6J-5180

ETA: Refer the seller casi1001 to this post. If she doesn't agree to a refund, you'll have to open a SNAD dispute through PP because it's been 60 days, too long for an ebay dispute.

ETA again: She also sold this fake with a known and always invalid serial number:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Heavy...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

casi1001 really needs to verify her items before listing and selling!

Thank you, BeenBurned. And to think that I already left positive feedback! The bag is still at my sil's house in Massachusetts (I won't pick it up til my next trip down from Canada). I will direct the seller to your post.

I hope the seller is responsive and does the right thing.

I hold a special disdain for sellers who mix authentic and fake items because buyers tend to "trust" them when they see multiple items, decent feedback and they tend to assume honesty and integrity. It's not always the case.

Hello-
This purse is on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-WOM...946311?hash=item211fd49547:g:RKQAAOSwLEtYlfDB
The creed looks different from another Janice I have that I know is genuine, so it made me nervous.

Creeds can change. The only time you can compare details in creeds and serial numbers is between bags made in the same plant, month and year and with the same style number. It's fine, but it's NOT vintage since it was made in 2007..

Please read the six Salearea COACH Guides posted at Ebay, especially the ones about creeds and serial numbers, to see how and why those details can change.
