Hi ladies, I have a navy Madison Spence (#4400) in possession that I would like to get authenticated. The wording and the spacing on the creed from this particular bag is different from others that I have that were made around the same time period. Dimensions: 8" x 6" x 2.75"; strap drop 22.5-24.5".

Hi I can't find on eBay to compare. Can you tell me if you think this is authentic?

Item: coach Madison

Creed: G1482-F28541
Seller: PinikaK
At this point, I haven't determined whether the bag is authentic or not. I do have concerns and would love to hear other opinions. (Note that there are close fakes of the pleated bags.)

First, I'll comment on a couple of details in the listing that I find interesting (at best) and questionable (at worst).

Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending this listing on Mercari. Please notice the differences I've illustrated.

1. The seller PinikaK listed her bag in the "handmade" handbag category. "Handmade" is often a euphemism used by sellers who know they have a fake and want to stay under the radar by not describing as a "designer" handbag.
2. I did find some other bags in this style on a several Asian-based websites. And like ebay, they probably have a mix of honest and dishonest sellers. The bags I found on are also MFF bags made in 2014 but these bags have serial numbers on the creeds, different from PinikaK's listing on Mercari.
3. The pleats on the front of the Mercari bag appear to be folded in the opposite directions from the others I found. The Coach plaque is more centered in the first row of pleats than the comps, which have the plaque set higher.

Oh wow @BeenBurned! I have no idea about the newer styles. #1 point. Totally missed that. #2. I am grateful for your expertise! I definitely didn't think bag was questionable. Now I see all the things you are pointing out. I better steer clear of this one! Phew! Thank you so so much!

hello, I recently bought a nwt coach bag (I removed tag after purchase) from a local seller via Facebook group buy/sell. She said she got it as a gift but never used it, I kind of got a red flag feeling but I bought it anyways because I'm too polite It for the most part looks genuine, hardware seems fine and has the standard YKK zipper, although the handles are really off-putting to me, I don't like how stiff it feels and how the top edges are brittle (side note: I live in Hawaii and humidity is not a friend to leather) I don't know if it's from not being used and stored or poor quality material.TIA!

It's very possible that it was between when the Japanese site bags and the Mercari bags were made (during 2014) that Coach went from putting the numbers on the creed to putting them on the white label.

But the other differences would have me hitting the back button.

(Again, other opinions are welcome.)

The bag looks fine to me although Facebook groups are notorious for having fakes.

I do have some other comments though.
You said: "I kind of got a red flag feeling but I bought it anyways because I'm too polite" -- It's not "polite" to ignore red flags. It's your hard-earned money and if you feel uncomfortable, you need to learn to advocate for yourself and be assertive enough to either ask more questions or walk away! No one is going to care about your protection than you!

You said: "hardware seems fine and has the standard YKK zipper" -- There's no such thing as "standard YKK zipper." Coach uses YKK as well as other brands and zipper brand proves absolutely NOTHING about authenticity. If you got your information from some online guide, get rid of that bookmarked link.

Regarding the handles, they're patent leather. Patent leather has a different feel and texture than cowhide.

In any case, again, the bag is fine.

Comment: new Willis bags are individually burnished?
This got skipped somehow, but were burnished leather ever used in Willis bags? The stamped paragraph worried me and the seller also kind of urged me to get it quick because they sell out quick. It backfired me to not even think twice without getting an opinion first. It sold already but I'd still like to know.

ETA: If it's any consolation, the seller reif-s does have this fake that is going to be reported!!

Could someone please authenticate this Coach? It appears to be a vintage City bag. I have another City bag and this one is identical every way except for the last four of the serial number and the "leather ware" written under Coach on the creed. The serial number on this is M4N-4154. All other City bags appear to have 9790 as the last four in the serial number? Thanks in advance for your help!! Ps. This was a thrift store purchase - $5.IMG_1484534314.871224.jpgIMG_1484534351.078237.jpgIMG_1484534362.617082.jpgIMG_1484534374.756607.jpgIMG_1484534394.309060.jpg
