This is the first fake one I've ended up with. I should have looked at it more closely.

There are other problems too, if you have a genuine City Bag for comparison. The shape of the bag around the bottom corners isn't right, the sides taper towards the bottom which a real City Bag doesn't do (if it tapers at all, it's in the opposite direction), and the buckle end of the strap looks like it's too long - when you place the shorter buckled strap section over the top of the bag the long way the buckle should only come to the end opposite where that strap piece is attached, roughly 12 inches. The one on yours looks like it's at least 15 or 16 inches long

Here's the real one:

I do have a real City Bag, and honestly, I didn't even think to compare. How silly of me. It wasn't until I posted it here that I noticed the creed looked wrong. Thanks for all that info. I will compare first next time.

Quick authentication please?? It's supposed to be a vintage Regina bag. I bought it off Ebay and it's in my possession. I didn't see the creed until I got it and the H8K worries me a little (though I'm no expert). Thank you!!

I'm sorry, it's fake. Can you post a link to the listing and the seller's name?

Would you kindly authenticate? Thank you!

Item: Swingpack
Seller: Goodwill (in my possession)
Dimensions: about 12.5 x 9 x 2
Comments: It feels like plastic but all the crossgrain stuff feels like that to me...

Is your seller's Ebay ID " becknray ", located in Wyandotte, Michigan?

They don't show the creed stamp at all in their listing, whether or not they did that deliberately, I can't say. But even though we couldn't see the creed and serial number, there's one small detail on the "Regina" they sold that would have flagged it as a fake if you had asked us to look at it BEFORE you bought it. Two details, actually, both involving the hardware. There may be more but those two jumped out at me.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Black-Leather-Vintage-Purse-Regina-Flap-Messenger-Crossbody-9983-/282246527414?hash=item41b73439b6:g:Y-kAAOSwo4pYE7v-&nma=true&si=%2BbvF386EWRxhbPyR1OMMpIE9UQo%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Regina Bags were often faked, I found another fake with a different invalid serial number when I was looking for yours, and there are probably more. If a seller doesn't show a clear readable photo of the creed stamp and serial number, DON'T buy it.

EDITED TO ADD - I honestly didn't see your reply before I posted this. But it was pretty easy to spot the fake in the Completeds for that style.

Do you know if these fakes are typically still made around the time of the originals? And if they are typically real leather? I don't particularly care if it's an authentic Coach because I Just like the style but I'd only want to keep it if it's real leather. Thank you for the help!
The seller misrepresented the item. It is illegal to sell fakes. Would have you paid that price if it wasn't Coach and the quality Coach is known for? If it were me, I would contact the seller and tell her it is fake. The seller has a "money back guarantee" in her listing, and ebay also has a money back guarantee. Why wouldn't you want to take advantage of that? There is no way of knowing when the fakes were made. I believe most were made later when the demand for the older all leather bags increased. So most likely it is much newer, made of cheaper materials, and probably made in a sweatshop. If you decide to keep it, you should destroy the creed so it can't be sold as a Coach again.

Is there a tag inside the pocket with the style number on it and/or a tag that shows where it was made? It is most likely coated canvas, not cross-grain, since it has Cs.
