Hi Hyacinth! Thank you very much! The seller is located here in my country, Philippines. They order bags and other stuff in the US. I don't think they have an Ebay account.

Here's their FB account: https://m.facebook.com/BagfulOfGoodies/

I'm really not an expert in newer styles, but we're short-staffed here at the moment so I'll try.

I think it's genuine, but can't be absolutely sure. There have been problems with fake bags from the P.I. in the past, and that always makes me nervous. But her customers seem to be happy.

I don't think you were bad at all, it looks like you had a very good day. I'm especially jealous of the Rambler, for a light-colored bag it looks to be in very good condition. Both are genuine and pre-1988.

After looking around on eBay, I'm guessing this bag is the MFF Ashley patent leather carryall. However, I don't think this is the right strap judging from the eBay pictures of similar styles. Overall, it's in very good condition and could be useful if the rain in my area continues!

I can't verify the name but the bag is genuine although you're right about the strap. It's definitely been replaced.

Thanks, Hyacinth! One of the City Bag booklets is copyrighted 1986 so that helps narrow the date, too. I'm in love w/ the Rambler...
I was bad b/c I have 4 more to post [emoji39]!

No worries! I do understand that as this is an outlet bag. The pinned posts in the reference library were a big help, including the guides that you've written for salearea. I've read and studied those carefully and came to a conclusion that this is MFF and genuine.

If I didn't read those, I would've think that the made in P.I. is a sign of fake. Not until I checked the guides. Very helpful indeed![emoji106]

At one time, I read that the city bag was introduced in 1987 so 1986-1987 seems about right for the city bag. I've seen very few with NYC creeds.

She didn't mean made in the Philippines, she meant bags sold in the Philippines. We've seen some really good fakes sold in the Philippines. It is nearly impossible to say that any bag purchased there from a private seller is definitely authentic. I think there might be a greater chance that a MFF bag is authentic since counterfeiters would want to maximize profits by copying more expensive bags.

It is leather, but it's not the heavier type that I'm familiar with.
on a side note, when did the double strand shoulder strap become a single strand?
thanks

It's authentic. I'm surprised it isn't as heavy as 80s and 90s versions of this bag. I don't think they changed the leather much until the mid 2000s. Every bag I've gotten from the Costa Rican plant up through 2002-2003 has had wonderful, thick leather. I don't know when they changed the strap. I know they were like that around 2010 and later. They could have changed as early as 2002 when your bag was made, or the strap is a replacement.

All are fine. The last is probably a compact pouch. We need measurements for items with a unique serial number. The wristlet is a Madison small wristlet from around 2010/2011.
