Good afternoon! Oh my, well after a few more times back and forth, including her request (and my refusal) to do a partial refund, I finally was sent a return label, emailed from the seller. I would have escalated it at that point, however, in order to follow ebay's guidelines and not overstep my bounds, I needed to at least wait 3 days and try to resolve the issue with the seller first. I did call ebay's customer service center, just to verify the process, in that after that time has passed - as ebay's online return guideline states - that ebay would refund my money through their buyer protection program, and that I would receive a return label through them. Luckily, I did not have to take it any higher. If I did, and ebay wasn't able to back me up, I believe I also could request a refund through paypal's buyer protection program (now that ebay and paypal operate separately). I think ebay has a "file claim" window of 30 days, and paypal is 180. Hopefully no one has need to use this info, but I thought I would post it in case it can be of help to anyone on TPF.

Thanks, the recent "reorganization" between Ebay and Paypal can be confusing. I haven't paid it much attention since I haven't needed to return anything in a while (knock on wood!), but it's good to have some idea of what part of the system works and what doesn't - at least until they make the NEXT round of changes.

Since it looks like a City Bag and since that style wasn't introduced until 1987, it's not going to be any earlier than that. You're not taking the bag style introduction date into consideration at all. Yours would have been made in 1987 or very early 1988.

Any recently updated Guide would have put the possible dates of that arrangement of creed and serial number details as between maybe very late 1970s and up to 1987 thru early 1988, depending on the style of the bag.
Ok once again I got it wrong.....[emoji25] I thought the made in new York USA dated it in the 70's not late 80's. Either way I still luve the bag. I assume it's not fake then since you didn't say about that?

Then you're not using the six Salearea Guides, and you should be. Coach used the same creed format for close to 10 years, and there's more to dating a creedand its bag than just whether it says it was made in NYC. That point might not even have been mentioned in the Salearea Guides, but how could a style that wasn't introduced until early 1987 have been made in the 70's? The production dates of genuine bags are at least as important as the format of the creed and serial number when it comes to dating a Coach bag.

And yes, it's genuine. We don't dignify fakes with real names or any other information used for authentic items. And I wouldn't be spending time going into so much detail if it was a fake.

What "guide" are you using, BTW?

I wouldn't want the first bag even if it was genuine. As it is, not only does it have a wrong serial number, but the difference in the leather grain between the flap and the rest of the bag really ruins it. It also looks like it's been over-conditioned or treated with something that makes the other leather sections very shiny, and Coaches aren't supposed to be that way. The -9992 or -9982 style number in the bag doesn't match anything Coach ever made. The seller describes it as having "Different colors of metal hardware, gold and silver tones." which a genuine Coach shouldn't have. There's no doubt in my mind that it's fake.

The other 2 bags are genuine and from before 2000.

Please read and Save the six Salearea Coach Guides for information on how to read serial number codes in bags made since 1994.

Bloody things still aren't working. Give it some more time to see if the idiots at Ebay get their heads out of their backsides and get it fixed.

If you posted a link to the Guide you were using, it didn't come up

and NO, Coach didn't use 3 letters like that for any serial numbers although sometimes the year code "0" could be swapped for the letter "o" so it's good to check. That JED prefix is always fake and all-letter prefixes are mentioned in part 1 of Daria48's Fake Coach Numbers list. There are other problems with that fake "Willis" too
"ANY bag with just three LETTERS to the left of the dash is fake. Be careful not to mistake a Zero in the center position for the letter O though, all bags made in 2000 will have a zero in the center."

I've seens a LOT of bad information and especially OUTDATED and incomplete information in picture-heavy Guides and have never seen one I'd recommend.

I have a few additional Coach accessory items I plan to post today. Any help with authentication is greatly appreciated.
This is a Coach kisslock coin purse. It has no Coach markings, just the interior brown "Made in China" tag and the hangtag (the embossing is worn and barely legible). I know neither of those is enough on their own to declare authenticity so expert help is needed. Thanks!
