Item: Patent Gallery Tote
Seller: Goodwill (in my possession)
Comments: I saw this called 'Z Gallery Tote' but was someone just referring to the Z/discounter code?

Newer bags from the last 10 years or so are going to have to wait until BeenBurned gets back. And no, I don't know when that will be. Maybe Vlad or Megs might know, you could try asking them.
Just got this beauty - would you kindly authenticate? The smooth leather inside the pocket threw me at first!

Item: Slim Zip Spectator 6018
Seller: Goodwill (in my possession)
Dimensions: about 9 3/4 x 6 3/4 x 2 3/4
Comments: I expected a beefier zipper for Leatherware, but guessing this is b/c it's Lightweights collection.View attachment 3385076 View attachment 3385077 View attachment 3385078 View attachment 3385079 View attachment 3385080

Exactly! It's one of the few Lightweight styles that was made in a Spectator version, and it's genuine.

I suspected as much on the Gallery tote so I'll let it ride until BB gets back. Thank you!

Yay on the Spectator - thank you! I did a lot of digging (and learning) to come up with that ID :)

Thank you Hyacinth! I didn't know which bags could be identified by whom! ^_^ That clears things up

Yes, it can get confusing. BeenBurned has much more experience with recent and current styles than I do, especially the Swaggers. A few of her older posts from about a year ago show some good comparison photos, but since newer bags don't interest me very much, I've never even looked at a real one or even photos of one closely. She has said many times that the style is very closely faked and I think that many would be considered "AAA" or "7-Star" fakes in the language of the counterfeiters, so it's always best to have them carefully authenticated.

She posted a few photos starting here:
http://forum.purseblog.com/threads/...-before-posting.889527/page-229#post-28687359
but I don't know if those will help.

Thank you again for all your help Hyacinth! I have just reviewed these photos and am familiarizing myself with various search features now on this site. I've come up with more detailed information. However, with my lack of thorough knowledge, I think unless BeenBurned comes back and can authenticate before my time to dispute the purchase ends, or until I receive the handbag, I really won't know. The only other thing I have to fall back on, is that I already ordered this same bag from coach.com. I wanted to have two - using the discounted one, and keeping the one from coach.com in it's box, untouched. Perhaps, if I myself can find any discrepancies between the two, it will be enough to ask for a refund from that seller? I've usually only purchased from macy's, nordstrom, or coach before, so I haven't encountered this issue...I think I should just stick to that. I have much to learn from you, as well as the other authenticators before being able to make an educated purchase online or otherwise. Regardless, again, I'm very grateful for your help

I picked up this bag at an estate sale. Folks in a Coach Bag group on ebay helped me gather info:
Bonnie's Legacy Small Zip Satchel
Creed Patch info: KOP-9421 ; Made in Costa Rica; "O" after letter K indicates it was made in 2000
Black Leather with brown interior, ribbed sateen ?
Anything else I need to know ? My intention is to sell this one, I don't need it  But I want to be as informed as possible and be able to authenticate it and pass on what I learn. Thank you for your help !

Just remember to compare "apples and apples", meaning that the 2 bags are the same style number, and it's an even bigger help if they were made in the same plant and month but that might not be possible.

There's a tiny white fabric tag that's usually sewn into the inside seam of one of the inside pockets, usually in the largest one with the zipper. The style number and plant production codes are printed on that tiny tag now instead of being stamped on the creed patch like they used to be, so comparisons are a bit harder but still possible.

Good luck!

All of that is correct.

The Bonnie's Legacy bags from 2000 were a tribute to designer Bonnie Cashin, who had died earlier in 2000. She was persuaded to design handbags for Coach when they first got into that market in 1962 and remained their chief (but NOT their only) designer to around the end of 1974 when she severed ties with the company. She kept her freelance status all through that term, and many of her styles and design details are still a part of Coach design. She also did design work for many other companies and for major Hollywood studios during her long career.

Cashin's name is often incorrectly used in connection with older or vintage bags that have no connection at all to the designer and that weren't even made until long after she and Coach parted company in 1974. Her name is probably one of the most misused in fashion when handbags are involved. Auction and online sale listings are flooded with bags described with Bonnie Cashin's name and shouldn't be. "Bonnie Cashin" and "Cashin-era" should mean that Cashin herself designed the bags during that 1962-1974 time period, but unfortunately those descriptions are all too often used incorrectly either through ignorance, or an attempt at deliberately falsifying a bag's age or value..

Need a quick authentication. I'm at the store right now and found a Court bag. I can't give measurements, but it looks right. Were these ever made in China? Serial #j13 9870

We need to see the entire bag to actually authenticate, but the creed stamp is correct for the time period included in the codes, and Coach DID make bags in China in 2001 with a "3" plant code.
