2nd:
Coach Willis Medium 9927, made in china

the only thing that has me scared on this one is that it's made in China. I thought these were USA and Costa Rica produced.

It's ok, I've seen at least 2 others with the same or similar serial numbers and fonts.

MORRIGAN3, it's not "vintage" it was just made in 2003. You can't compare stamps from different plants and years, they're ALL different.

Not 1999?

Please authenticate. These 2 are in my possession. Thanks in advance.

This is a station bag? Some call this a Willis also.

Item: Replacement leather strap
Seller: Poshmark, in my possession
Comments: 43" long with claw clips. Has the word "Coach" on the gold ring attached to the leather.

Both look fine. A station bag is not a Willis and never has been. Some people call it a Willis when selling just to get more views.

This seller had another listing for a fake (since reported and removed) and I found this listing's description rather interesting.

Title - Glove leather expandable 2-gusset American business briefcase: clean, sound, 17"
seller lynnshoponbuy
item number: 172222237918
link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Glove-leath...237918?hash=item28193eccde:g:RQQAAOSwHJhXMz9H

Comments: It comes up in Coach searches, brand is listed in item specifics as "American Coach subsidiary" and description states: "Built in America during the Coach glory days, when a number of Coach designers went independent. This is one of the Coach spin-offs"

Opinions?

AFAIK, Coach didn't have any "subsidiaries". Keyword Spamming.

Thank you.

Here's another, this time not with "American Coach subsidiary" but "Coach" as the brand in item specifics!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Am...464560?hash=item5d652de2f0:g:GPwAAOSwdsFXTa2A

And the description:
"Original American-built Coach glove leather duffle/cabin bag:
Looking for an old school American leather duffle to last a lifetime or two: Here's a great classic Coach in fine condition."

Hi,

Could someone please authenticate this? I quickly bid on it without fully looking at the creed pic and when it arrived, I noticed the plant code is "L" which would not be a US plant code, correct? Also, the grommets on the shoulder strap are silver. :( I know that's not good.
Will let seller know but wanted to get it verified here too.

Thanks for your help.

L is a valid US factory code, but this bag is fake. The font is completely wrong. The mix of silver and brass hardware is another sign it is fake. I bet the inside pocket is too big too.

Thanks for your quick response. Yes, the pocket is too big and the creed is stamped way too low. Do you happen to know how many US plant codes there were?
Another thing off on this bag are the rivets holding the straps on either end - they're way too close together.

You're welcome. I don't know how many US plant codes there were. Quite a few, probably around 10 for bags. There were probably a few others in the US used for other items that wouldn't necessarily have a creed. They reused some of the letters.

Thank you.

The second one is a Coach but I can't read the serial number. It's not the original Cabin Bag though.

ETA - Found it. It's either the Medium or the Large Carry On Flap Bag 0522 or 0523 from around Spring 1996.

This one has a creed. I think it might be okay.

I commend you for verifying before accusing the seller of sending a fake. So often buyers accuse then try to back up their suspicions. And often, those suspicions are wrong.

Have you approached the seller yet? If she balks at the full refund (including return shipping if she wants it back), open a SNAD dispute. Seller will have to pay for return shipping when she loses the dispute.

(IMO, if the seller is smart, she'll just tell you to dispose of the fake because since she can't resell it anywhere legally, it's a waste of money to pay return shipping.)

Yes, I have approached the seller when I saw the creed and she is requesting where I got my information. I am referring her here. She stated she received the bag from a friend and she would never sell a bag that wasn't genuine. She must not have known.
Once again, thanks for your help!

Did she issue a refund? Did she read the posts here?
