IMPORTANT READ-ME

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

Sorry to bother! I posted this a while back but can't seem to track down if anyone responded or not. Any feedback (on the item or my post format) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry! Sometimes posts get missed or overlooked. Or it's possible that no one here is familiar enough with the style to be confident authenticating it. I'm not, since newer bags and smaller items just aren't on my radar, but I'll re-post the link to see if anyone else can help:

LOL! It's unusual that we all miss a post.

The wristlet looks good.

Good thing I didn't waste any time copying the photos! :D

I also posted an update at the Answers thread.

Trying to upload her convo to me. She blames me for reporting her and mentioned EBAY told her I reported her...umm....if it doesn't upload, I will try again.

EDIT:...I didn't realize she relisted it...

If only it took just one report from a member to get listings removed!! That would be wonderful.

I admit to having reported and I'm guessing there were many other reports from lurkers. When ebay sees that, Coach's VeRO is notified and they confirm the bag(s) as fakes. (But to be honest, I'd love to think it's my report that saved a buyer from getting scammed for $400!)

Please feel free to refer amanda051987 here. If she's going to be selling Coach bags for which she's not the original owner, it's a good idea to authenticate them prior to listing. As it is now, she has counterfeit "dings" on her account, something that remains there forever although the downgrade takes only a year (!!) to fall off.

There's nothing wrong with finding deals at yard sales, consignment stores, estate sales, thrift shops or Craigslist. And there's nothing wrong with trying to make a profit on the resale of those bargains.

But the law and ebay, Bonanza, and other sites' policies are clear. Sellers MUST know items are authentic before listing them.

It's too bad that amanda051987 can't admit to having made a mistake and instead of being angry with you for bringing it to her attention, she should be grateful that she's not contacted by the feds for trading in counterfeit goods.

ETA: BTW, ebay will NEVER tell who reports an item! NEVER!

ETA again: If the seller were to come here and express even the smallest amount of remorse, she could get advice on getting a refund from her seller. This wouldn't be the first time someone bought a fake, tried to resell it and got caught.

**like i said, she can blame me I'd she wants. But if she was questioning whether or not it's fake, why even relist it?***

**that's what I told her, even if I did, I would admit it**

**I sent her the link the this forum :) **

Thank you!

Vintage COACH "Hippie Utility Messenger Crossbody Saddle Flap Brown Leather Bag
Bonanza listing
Seller seventwenty1
http://www.bonanza.com/listings/Vin...sbody-Saddle-Flap-Brown-Leather-Bag/356169671

Did Coach make this style and if so and if authentic, is it even salvageable?

Sheesh, I'd never sell something in this condition!

Comments: I realize there's no creed picture and this seller should know better. Either she avoids showing creeds to stay under the radar or she just doesn't realize the importance of showing the important details of the bags.

There is a creed picture but it is too blurry to read. Yes, I believe they made a style like this. I have it in my files as #9404 Utility Hippie (unconfirmed) from 2000. I don't think it is salvageable. Was it in a fire?

ETA: there are 3 in ebay completeds: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Clothing-Sh....html?_from=R40&LH_Complete=1&_nkw=coach+9404

ETA2: one of those in the completeds is fake.

It looks ok - genuine Stewardess from the early or middle 1980s.

That one is good.

Beware of many of the guides out there though. The Salearea guides were written by Hyacinth and are dependable but others not so much!
