Oh great! Had just edited to reflect it. :) also, I was wondering about the broken ring in the first link. i had read that some people take that as a sign of a fake. Any thoughts?

What broken ring?

If you mean the one holding the strap in the 4th photo, that's NOT broken. Earlier strap rings were NOT soldered closed, they were left open so that they could be pried open if a strap needed to be replaced. The reason you can see the gap is because the ring is turned 90 degrees.

I hope that shows the danger of listening to the nonsense "some people" spew about what they think are their "expert" opinions. The vast majority of those opinion-spouters couldn't a genuine C0ach from a fake one if their lives depended on it. Don't pay ANY attention to ANY so-called experts who write or post what they refer to as "authenticity guides", at least 90 to 95 percent of them are complete BS. There is NO one or two features on any C0ach that prove it's genuine, and only a handful of mistakes that ALWAYS prove it's fake, the most important being fake or invalid serial numbers.

If you want ACCURATE information, and no baloney about what magic features always prove what's genuine, start here:

Hello, I found these on Etsy and Ebay and am wondering if any of them are authentic as I'm looking for a good vintage leather purse, but I have no idea what I'm really looking at in terms of creed and serial numbers.

Thank you.

The first one seems to be genuine, but the apparent condition of the leather worries me. There's too much texture, if that makes any sense. That doesn't mean it's fake, it could just mean that it wasn't conditioned as much as it should have been over the last 22 years.
You may want to wait for more opinions.

The second one also seems genuine although I can't enlarge the creed photo for some reason. The scratches all over the front will take a bit more than a simple conditioning to make them go away or at least make them less noticeable. Please note that it seems to have what was an optional shorter strap and can't be worn cross-body.

Excellent. I'm glad I asked. Thank you, and thank you to BeenBurned!

And something to keep in mind - some styles have rings that are soldered closed, some have rings that don't. You can almost never make a blanket statement about any Coach detail unless you're comparing IDENTICAL styles made in the same plant, month and year. There are almost NO "One rule Fits All" with any C0ach products. That's why almost all of those "guides" are worse than useless. Read my Signature that's posted in purple at the bottom of all my posts for the worst "authenticity rule" offender.

I just want to comment that the seller's statement of the age of the bag isn't correct. She states that the bag is "Vintage item from the 1970s" but assuming authenticity, it's from 1994.

Can anyone tell me what this is....i thought it was a coin purse....but i'm not sure. Is it new or old?? I like odd things so I was going to bid on it...goodwill shipping is a killer though.

It looks VERY faded, I think the original color was red, not orange. Coach wasn't making any orange bags when this one was introduced. It's also supposed to have a matching long strap which seems to be missing and which would be very hard to replace with the same color. It will take me a while to find the exact name and style number but it's one of the Mini Belt Bags and the loops on the back are belt loops.

ETA - Mini Belt Bag, style 9826. It could be from some time around 1991 to 1993 or maybe a few years later, probably 1996 at the latest.

Alright, I will wait and see. If the structure of the leather itself isn't compromised I imagine some conditioning and buffing would help a bit if it is genuine. I have a friend who works with saddles who can probably give me some tips, at least.

Oh, I didn't notice about the strap! Thank you for pointing that out. :smile1:
