Alright here are the photos - hope they're alright!

The zipper, and zipper pull are right, and from these, it looks authentic to me. But what I also wanted was a picture of the front and back of the authenticity tag - the white one usually sewn into a seam that says Bottega Veneta Made in Italy on one side, and certificato di ... ,with numbers underneath. The look of that tag, along with the numbers give us information about the authenticity, since most counterfeiters get this one wrong - and usually get the zipper pull wrong, too!

Font looks good, as do the edges of the authenticity tag. Would like to see the numbers. From these pics, it looks authentic, but to seal this you would want the pic of the authenticity tag, the certificato di ... w/ numbers.
Thank you Baggiana! :flowers: I have asked them both for the photos required. By the way, the first seller (of the red wallet) has said that he is Tseng on this forum.

Nymph: That is NOT the correct style number for the Large Cabat!!!

Thanks for the confirmation. I went to my BV store today, and checked the gold plate, and no where does it state the season and year before the serial no. Am I right?

I checked 2 different Cabats - a men's vachette one, and another ebano cabat in medium size.

This is the auction that the seller gave me details from:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=200237898846

boxermom had authenticated this bag before, but I had asked for more details eg, what is on the gold plate, and what is printed on the white tag etc.

I don't understand. This seller has a perfect 100% feedback, and as boxermom pointed out, she has tons of authentic bags :confused1:

Hi and welcome to the Purse Forum and the BV subforum!

You have a good eye for quality--this is authentic. Seller is known for her authentic designer items. There is a white tag in the recent BV bags (I don't know when the white ones started) sewn into a seam that has a code with style, leather (I think), and color. Also the newest ones have the year the bag was made. The fakers try to copy the tags but we can often pick out something they didn't get right.

In this case, the seller can be trusted.

Nymph, have you contacted the seller to see what she says? Her reputation gave me a false sense of confidence in the authenticity of anything she sells. I find it hard to believe she would knowingly risk her reputation, but maybe she took a bag to sell that she was fooled on?

I'll stay away from Cabats completely since they are a different style to authenticate.

You have my apologies.

Without having a cabat, it is hard to say, but everyone, even the best sellers can occasionally be fooled. My gut feeling about any auction, regardless of the seller, is that if things do not match up for me, then as much as I want the item, and as much as I think this could be something that someone else just doesn't have experience with (rationalized, but sometimes the case), I cannot bid until I am PERSONALLY certain that this is authentic.

Since this purports to be an older cabat (2005), I would open a new thread calling all owners of cabats from 2003-2006 and see what they have to say regarding the limited edition tag, as well as what the authenticity tags say on these "older" cabats with regard to numbers. Since bv.luxury has already told you that this is NOT the style number for the large cabat, something is not ringing true here... enough so, I would want to thoroughly check this out. Nymph, you are pretty saavy. My suggestion would be to hold off on bidding until you can satisfy yourself that this is or is not authentic. If you have already bid, contact the seller, by phone, and explain your dilemma/doubts. She is an attorney - she will understand. And when you finish your investigation, come here and be an authenticator for cabats - old and new (and other BV's, of course)!

As authenticators, we can only make judgements based on our experience and the photos and information we are given. It is our judgement/opinion, and is in no way a guarantee. You are the final arbiter... open a new thread and see what you find out! Best of luck!
