You all probably already know this, but you can go to www.toolhaus.org and enter a buyer's or seller's eBay ID and it will bring up all of their negative and neutral feedback so you can see what happened (instead of slogging through 25 pages of feedback). I just learned about this at an eBay focus group I participated in June 16, 2008. Of course now that sellers can not leave buyers negative feedback, the site is not as useful - except that past behavior is usually a pretty good predictor of future behavior. Plus for those of us who do more buying than selling it is quite informative. Best regards - Jacqueline (barkingcats)

i want to buy a bottega veneta bag.. any advise for me?

do you plan to buy one from eBay? If so, post the auction in this thread and we will do our best to determine if it's authentic or not. Some online retailers sell authentic BV's at a discount--check out the reputation of the company first. If you go to a BV store or a department store that sells them you 'll probably pay full price but you know it's authentic.

If you are getting a Veneta, probably the first thing to decide is which size. The medium or the large? Thereis a maxi-Veneta but I assume you want one of the standard sizes. Then think about if you want a classic color or seasonal. Classic colors are made every season: Nero (black), Ebano (dark brown), Noce (medium brown), and Bianco (white). Seasonal colors are just that--they change with each of the 3 seasons of collections: Fall/Winter, Resort, Spring/Summer.

Any other questions about the style in general can be posted in the regular BV thread section. Between all of us, we have experienced almost every style and color and we love to share our opinions!

Happy to have you here!:yahoo:

Thanks boxermom. I've already bought 4 BV bags in Ebay and so far, I am lucky to get all authentic. It's because I got the first one authenticated here at the Purse Forum and from then on I've always been looking at all the marks esp the authentication tag. I've learned so much from this forum. If the seller doesn't cooperate then I forget about it.

the golden grommet veneta on ebay now is a fake in my opinion, as the edge of the authenticity tag looks too even...if you know what I mean

^^so do the fakers get the numbers right on the authenticity tags a lot of the time?

do most of the fakes have some sort of tag, or is absence of a tag common with fakes? Authenticating is complicated with BV!

It's not hard to get a number that is good (they could walk into any store and examine bags), but sometimes they don't. From what I've seen, the fakes have white tags but there is something about the tag that they can't get exactly right. The edges, thickness, etc.
