hello.

hope you can help me authenticate this bottega veneta hobo as a friend is selling it to me. She said the bag was purchased in Japan. Bag was recolored due to a stain.. the color looks good so it doesn't really bother me. i just hope the bag is authentic:smile1:

Yes it is a vintage and im a bit curious with the tag as it has a different color... But thanks for the prompt reply:smile1:

This is an authentic Veneta that was issued back in 2003 or prior. I'm assuming you are able to see the condition of the bag before making a decision. I'd always recommend this considering that the bag was manufactured ~10 years ago. If everything checks out to your liking then you can be armed with the thought that you're getting the real deal.

BTW, I would not call this a vintage bag. It's an overused term but vintage is something that's over 20+ years old.

So the term 'old' would be better, yes - ;)

Yes, I would think so. "Old" is a perfectly acceptable adjective to describe bags though people say "vintage" because the term has a certain cache to it. I personally find it strange to be calling a bag that was made in the 90s or early 2000's "vintage". It is also an overused word that essentially means little without an accompanying time frame (ie. vintage 1970's coat).

As a general rule of thumb...

Vintage - at least 20+ years old
Antique - used to mean 100+ years old but now covers 50-75 years old (with a few exceptions like cars, etc)

And you get someone like me, who doesn't know 'old' from 'vintage' where BV is concerned, and the confusion gets worse. From now, m'lady, it will be 'old' until an experienced person chimes in. :smile1:
