this cabat ......I would pass on it
malleries sells authentic BV
Now that you ask about the tag my mind has gone blank
I always thought it was in the bottom of the cabat
wait for boxermom to authenticate this

I am by no means a BV expert but do have 5 items that I personally purchased from the BV shops in NY, so I have been using them as reference since I tend to stay with the same few styles.

I purchase 1 cabat at the BV shop in 2011 and the white tag is at the bottom but my Maxi and Large Belly have the tag inside the zipped pocket. My Iron bag and Large Cosemetic pouch and the Intrecciolusion Tote have the tag just on the inside seam. I used these as refernces but have not come across a cabat with the tag inside the pouch and thought I get an expert opinion. I though going through a reputable re-seller would help but who knows.

Thank you so much for your time. I will wait for Boxermom.:smile1:

Hi BV Experts,

May I ask for help to authenticate this?

Item Number: 59220
Title: Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Nappa Large Hobo
Seller: BBOS
Link: http://www.bagborroworsteal.com/handbags/bottega-veneta-intrecciato-nappa-large-hobo/59220#

The tag worries me a bit so would like your opinions, thanks!

The printing is just a bit off center and the tag is very worn--this bag has been used a lot. We would also need to see a clear photo of the heatstamp. I'm surprised the seller didn't include that.

This looks nice on the outside but personally, I would pass on it. Septembersiren noticed the plaque problem and the white tag should be sewn to the base of the Cabat, not in the pouch. It's tempting, but too many questions about this bag. I have a feeling it's not authentic. Trust your gut--I think you already had questions in your mind about it.

I have owned many Cabats, purchased from the boutique. I had a black Med with the tag sewn inside the pouch. The bag was 100% without a shadow of a doubt authentic, purchased from the Bottega Veneta boutique, i still have my original receipt.

In fact the Peltro Cabat listed on Malleries was a Special Order placed by a long time Tpf member from the boutique in Hawaii in 2009.
I can safely say I have handled (thoroughly inspected and photographed) over 50 Cabats in different sizes and leathers over the last 5 years. I can spot a fake a mile away!

Here are some images of my ex- Black med Cabat with tag sewn inside the pouch.

we need to see the white tag
I must say these are the worst pics I have ever seen
it metal plate should say that is ___/500
Not always the case! Special Orders do not have an edition #.

I've handled a few Special order Cabats, orders placed by long time Purse Forum members.
See the tag is also sewn into the pouch not the bottom of the Cabat, no edition # on the plate.

Thanks, LT. When members have special knowledge, I'm glad when they chime in.

To be fair, though, September siren and I were giving our best opinions with what we know about the vast majority of Cabats. I never knew any had the white tags sewn inside the pouch. And we never saw the photo of the white tag, which would've shown us it was a special order and therefore, no number on the plaque.

I'm always ready to admit when I'm wrong. The Cabat is good.

Please authenticate. Thank you.

Comments: The metal plate does not say the # out of 500 and the white tag is inside the pouch. Not sure if the additional pics will come through

These pictures are not good enough to render an opinion.

The Malleries Cabat shows the white tag.
The one on eBay, shows very poor quality pictures and no picture of the tag. I would not give an opinion on the ebay listing based on those pictures.

To sum up,
The authenticity tag may be inside the pouch or sewn into the base of the Cabat, a clear picture of this tag is needed to render an opinion.
Clear pictures of the Cabat, front, back, sides, bottom, inside bottom, handles and where the handles attach, pouch, inside of pouch, and plate are ALL needed to render an opinion.
Any reputable seller will happily post ALL these images in their listing, it they do not, I say pass. Can't stress this enough, KNOW YOUR SELLER! Start a conversation via the selling venue message system, ask for more images, questions about wear, even about previous owner, smoker?, perfume?

Why is a re-seller's price higher? Reseller own businesses, pay all kinds of fees, have fixed overhead cost, pay income taxes and try to get the most money for their clients/consignors because no one wants to take a huge hit when they resell a bag they paid a lot of money for and carried with care.

Thank you Boxermom for your service here! I may know the Cabat, but I know very very little about vintage Bottega Veneta.

I must be getting too old to do this--I have gone back and when we were asked to authenticate the Cabat, there wasn't a link to Malleries or am I blind? That's a possibility.

Seriously considering hanging up my authenticating hat--no Knots and now, no Cabats. Taking a break, folks. Not doing this for drama; I just think I've been doing it for too long and I've lost whatever is needed to handle it.

Pls dont stop, boxermom. Your expertise has saved me a lot of $. These fakers are getting good at copying. Most likely the owner has the original version and sell the fake ones after making them.

there was no link to malleries in the post
at a later time someone asked if malleries was known for selling authentic
I too am not going to authenticate anymore
the only way you truly know if you are getting a real BV is to buy it in a BV store
that has always been my position and it still is
good luck everyone

Hi all, could someone please authenticate this veneta for me? Thanks

Item Name: Veneta Large Hobo Bag
Seller Name: Neiman Marcus.com
Comments: I just bought this bag from NM's website. But the bag was arrived in a broken delivery box and wrapped by a strange white nylon dustbag. I just feel not so comfortable about this. It would be great if its authenticity can be verified since I can still request a refund if needed. Thanks in advance.
