I'm here once again to consult the experts on authenticating a bag. A friend is interested in selling me a Bottega Veneta bag that her mom purchased in Taiwan.

I am still having issues uploading the pics here so here's the link to the photo album.

I'm not sure what leather this is and the tag does say 2010. What really bothers me about this bag is that the entire lining is in this black shiny nylon fabric which gives it kind of a "cheap" feeling. Is this normal and if so, why does BV line this bag in black nylon while other bags are lined in suede?

I'd really appreciate any opinion on this and what the retail price on this was.

Hi, just wanted to update to say that the bag was purchased on Bluefly, not in Taiwan. My friend thought her mom bought it overseas but it turns out she bought it on Bluefly. It's still weird to have the nylon lining, no?

Hopefully other will chime in, but I don't think it's weird - it's a tote, after all, and a suede lining wouldn't be practical.

Everything looks ok, so I'd say it's authentic. Could be made for a foreign market or outlet, possibly.

Thank you both! I did some research on TPF and it seems there were some BV bags sold on Bluefly back in 2011 that had the black nylon lining. The problem is I haven't found a similar bag anywhere on eBay or elsewhere that I don't know what's a fair price to offer her for this bag. My friend doesn't know much at all about BV bags so she said the price is up to me. I want to pay a fair price but have no idea what it should be?

it was probably made for the outlet
that is how they keep the price down by using a different lining
outlet bags are made by BV artisans

It could be a tote from the men's collection. I have three totes that were part of the men's collection and they all have fabric linings.

Hopefully we can see a photo of the white authenticity tag (found inside a zipped pocket). I cannot find this in my catalogs but I am missing :Resort 2006 and the summer 2006 catalog shows some shoes with very similar detail in a similar color called Papavero, if I read it correctly. That's all I have until we see a white tag.

Thanks you boxermom for your reply! (I had to reply to septembersiren separately, bc don't know how to multiqoute.) I have asked the seller to provide a photo of the infotag, and he/she has replied that a photo will be added to the advert, so I must bide my time. Hopefully it will appear soon!

To multiquote, click on the circle symbol in the lower right corner of the post you want to quote; click that circle on as many posts as you want; when you reach the last post you want to quote, click on the lower right *quote* and then you can reply to each if you want and delete anything in the quotes (somethimes we write a lot!).

I hope the seller posts a photo, because I have seen bags similar to this on ebay. I see no warning signs so far.

Hi, I'm sure the authenticators here will help you but just wanted to let you know that I saw this listing and had asked the seller for pics of the authenticity tag and zipper and here's her exact reply:
"I will never figure out how to attach a picture to an ebay email, but trust me, the tag is there, intact and readable. This is one million percent authentic money back guaranteed. Purchased by me at Jaime's in Nashville TN. I have no desire to commit fraud and my feedback is important to me.

Thanks, Katie"

I backed away and didn't bid as she didn't seem helpful. I'm sure the bag hopefully is good but I always think it's weird when the seller expects the bidder to just trust them on authenticity.
