Please authenticate and let me know if you think it's actually the MEDIUM size based on the images in the listing (it looks like the large to me!):

Ebay Title: AUTH BOTTEGA VENETA INTRECCIATO HOBO MEDIUM GOLD MPRS

Thanks!

Based on the listing info and photos, I do think it's the medium, not the large.

Nothing sticks out as being unauthentic to me, but you may wish to have a second opinion because I don't have first hand knowledge of this color.

I have a General Question on Authencity, not pertaining to any auction.
Because my question is General, I dont expect a spot on answer but I am curious.

Has Anyone out there seen a Bottega IRL or in pictures that Feels and Looks as Good as the real thing?
I ask because I'm not an expert obviously but Having amassed a number, is it possible by feel alone or looks and/or feel alone, without scrutinising the zipper and tags (those seem easier to fake than leather thickness and consistency of weaving), that one is more or less able to gauge.

I have to say this. I was in a Bali airport. There were genuine watches for sale next to a Shop that had rows of bottegas and other luxury brands lined up and marked "clearance".

I touched the bottegas and kinda recoiled. Its brand new bags and the leather felt very "paper" thin. I didnt inspect more because I was just not comfortable being there with my empire. However the way it was displayed especially with Hermes and Chanels just seem obvious it wasnt right.

Funny you should ask about this. Not knowing about Purse Forum, my first *BV* was a fake from ebay. Not knowing any better, I thought it was the real deal, until I bought a real one. what a huge difference in feel and the sheen of the nappa leather. Who knows what leather was used for my fake. I think almost anyone with a real BV could tell the difference when handling a fake IRL. When we can only work from flat photos, it's harder, naturally.

I love this color a lot, is it from last season? Also is the $999 a good deal?

Thanks

Hi and welcome to Purse Forum and BV! If you have any future questions about authenticity, read Post #1 in this thread for the best way to format the question.

This is an authentic Belly Veneta. I'm out of town and don't have my catalogs info list with me, but I believe it's from 2010. The color looks like Empire, but without my list, I'm not certain.

I don't like to offer opinions on price--what is a good deal for one person is too much for another. If you want to compare to current retail, go to www.bottegaveneta.com and check on collections, then handbags to find the official details.

I've owned this color in the medium veneta and it's gorgeous. A bit more needy than the nappa leather venetas since it feels like sueded leather. So stunning with a look of lightly sprinkled gold dust. :sunshine:

Oh, and I also agree with blueiris and boxermom that it's authentic, in my opinion :smile1:

I believe the color might be delft from Spring/Summer 2010, rather than empire.

Thanks for your observations. I was just quite unsure at the airport because i could never have imagined they would sell fakes at an airport, therefore undermining my own confidence in judging it IRL . If there was such thing as super replica, they sure werent nothing like it. However I often wonder about super replicas and I'm exceptionally wary because there were some I missed out on and unable to get from boutiques anymore and have to resort to stalking auction/ sales site :p

It's funny that you mention the leather was paper thin. I went to a BV boutique and tried on an opera crossbody bag sometime last fall and the leather that they used was also paper thin. The SA said it was because it was a larger bag and the thinness of the leather was to make it more lightweight and wearable. Before that bag, I would have totally agreed with you. Now, I'm back to being a newbie. :graucho:
