Both of those are fake. Stay away from sellers who sell multiples of the same item. Also, these scarves are well over $250 now retail, no one in their right mind is going to sell them for $30.

Thanks for replying!! I really appreciate it..I'm just going to save up and buy from neiman's! :( I knew it was probably too good to be true so I'll just suck it up. Definitely have my eye on the graphite one!!!

Hi Shoppaholic11,

I bought my graphite skull scarf from Zappos when it went on sale for around $180. There are no graphite scarves at the moment, but I recommend checking out the Zappos site regularly to scout good deals on McQueen scarves ...

Good luck finding your scarf!

Unfortunately zappos doesn't ship to Canada or else I would be mad stalking the zappos site. Going to try Neiman's just because their free shipping codes actually apply to Canadian orders too. Thank you anyways though! :)

hello experts. Would anyone please help me to authenticate this mcqueen scarf that i bought from a ebay seller for $90? The item seems just find through the pics but when i received it, it seems...uncertain. First of all, it was packed in a blank white scarf box, second, the material feel very silky...i heard that the real mcqueen scarf is not perfectly silky. Third, the tag was tied up on the scarf. Forth, the backside of the tag is just not the same as those my friends have... So, plz help me to clear things up! Truly appreciated !

the pics.

Maybe they're reading this forum because they're doing a lot better (re: how the tag is attached, etc. but I compared your pics with mine of one I got at zappos & think yours is fake bc:
- lettering on sewn in "alexander mcqeen" tag. The A, E and X specifically look iffy.
- Although my AMQ tags have been tied on, the string is usually dark - like navy or dark purple
- sorry :( Which seller was this?

Hello everyone,
I'm new here to this community. I came across this forum/blog when I was researching on how to buy brand name things online. I've been just reading everyone's posts and comments and finally decided to open an account because of everyone's respect and hospitality toward one another here. Definitely different from all the other communities that I've joined before. Go Purse Forum!!! Woot! I've been researching a lot about Alexander McQueen and his designs, since college when I first learn about him...love a lot of designs especially his accessories and scarves. Always wanted his skull scarves but was too poor. finally with a job now I thought I could get my chance to own a piece through ebay but after his death there are more and more counterfeits of the skull scarves. they have gotten so good at counterfeits I really have a hard time distinguishing them from real pieces. I just want some advice on how to spot fake pieces of the skull scarves. I know to look for the stitching of the tag, the lettering, how I should not buy from AUS and CAN sellers, if sellers have large quantities of the scarves then don't buy, ask for more and clear pictures, and look for the hems. What other clues should I look for? Are sellers from UK alright to buy from? If the tag say 100% silk seta soie, is that a fake? Shouldn't it say 100% silk?

Take these two ebay post for example i'm kind of iffy about them...but they seem to check out with my checklist...

1). http://cgi.ebay.com/Alexander-M-McQ...ssories_UK&hash=item4aad28925c#ht_1062wt_1124

2). http://cgi.ebay.com/Alexander-McQ-m...ssories_UK&hash=item35b3e02732#ht_1111wt_1124

Please teach me masters!! Thanks for you time!

Each listing says "more than 10 available," which is a dead giveaway. These are fake. Why not wait for the real scarves to be discounted, which happens at retail outlets at least twice a year, often throughout the year?

I do not think either of those are real.

More things to look for are the tags. My authentic scarf is attached 'horizontally' with ONLY stitches on the top - Here it seems as though there are extra stitches at the bottom of the tag.

Of course, as pointed out - I would never purchase from someone who has so many of the item, at such low prices (plus on the side you can see that 15 others were sold too... who has more than 25 of the scarves). EVEN IF they were stolen, why sell them for 30 when someone would buy them for at least 130.

I would suggest going to an online retailer - I think maybe net-a-porter or saks will have them available sometimes. Also, signing up for AlexanderMcqueen.com updates will have them notify you about sales. Sometimes they have scarves on sale at the end of the season.

BTW, I have another scarf that I believe to be authentic & the tag DOES say silk seta soie... I was suspicious at first but was told by the AMQ store in NY that the pattern is likely real because it's one that is hard to duplicate.

Hope this helps.

I noticed the following inconsistencies:
- mine do not have any dashes in the part where it says "silk seta soie"
- has nothing written in Italian (just 3 lines on the care tab, not 4)
- also, my tags are sewn in with a single loop over the top, not one sewn in the tag (with nothing going over the top).

For those reasons, they raise a few red flags for me. Where did you get it from & about how much did you pay? Those could be indicators too. If you already had your doubts before reading this - I think you have your answer. (Hope this Helps).
